Item 57
A lot of people know that Random Acts, the charity I founded, does some pretty big projects. We have built a free high school in Nicaragua, a children's center for orphans in Haiti and RA has helped facilitate many of the big, charitable projects that GISH raises money for — but many people don't know that Random Acts also funds hundreds of micro acts year-in and year-out that are carried out by helpers like you in communities around the world. This week, Random Acts has kicked off "1,000 Little Acts of Kindness (with big impact)", a challenge to help supporters complete 1,000 Acts of Kindness before the end of August. So we're inviting Gishers to help support the campaign… and Random Acts may fund your local act up to $50USD!
YOUR ITEM: Identify a person or group that is in your community that you can help through a small act of kindness. It can be a person, group, school, animal, or even an organization. There are some rules — for instance, it can't be paying a bill for someone and it can't be an act for a family member. All the guidelines are on the Random Acts website here. Go to the Random Acts website, make sure your Act qualifies and fill out the 1,000 Little Acts of Kindness Acts Proposal. Random Acts staff will review your Act and, on approval, will give you/your team up to $50USD to implement your vision. The monies will be distributed via PayPal only, which is widely available in most countries. (If you're in a country such as Pakistan that doesn't have PayPal access and you want to request funding to complete your Act, it's up to you to coordinate with your teammates to get that transfer worked out.)
IMPORTANT NOTES: Your Act does NOT have to use money to qualify for Points — you can do an Act that is free, but you still have to submit an Acts Proposal and complete an Act to get your Points. If your Act isn't approved by Random Acts, you can still do any act of kindness in your community (with or without spending money) to qualify for GISH Points — however, we must see that your team has submitted an Act Proposal and completed an Act of Kindness in your community to get Points for this Item. If your Act is approved and funds are sent to you, you are required to follow through with your proposal and submit receipts and evidence (images, videos) to Random Acts as part of your official Random Act. Any money distributed to you that is not used to fulfill the Act must be returned to Random Acts along with all receipts. Post evidence of your Random Act of Kindness on social media and tag #GISH, @RandomActsOrg and #1KActsRA. SUBMIT TO GISH: Submit side-by-side images of your Act Proposal form and evidence of your act, or if it's something that you can capture in video format, compile them into a video showcasing your act of kindness and include a link to your social media post in comments. PS: While you can certainly apply for a fully-funded act and I encourage you to do so after the Hunt, please wait until after the 1,000 Little Acts program has ended so the Random Acts team isn't overwhelmed with requests. Thanks.
