Dream in general was awesome in your story.

Never saw this kind of savvy and vaguely shady characterization for him. It's sympathetic while also giving a "beware the wrath of a patient man" edge whenever he's around and it's peak

awwwwhhhww thank you so much !! Dream’s characterization was something I thought about a lot- I was determined to write him as something other than ‘innocent sunshine cinnamon roll’ and ‘actually literally the devil he’s so evil’. Dream’s canon characterization is… kinda a mess: contradictory. I took the pieces that I thought were most interesting and tweaked what was left to make sense. He sees himself as incapable of feeling negative emotions- or believes he shouldn’t; In reality he’s just as vulnerable and emotional as the rest of us.

I keep on writing and deleting because I could talk about Dream’s characterization for forever but I feel bad going on such a long tangent. So for now I’ll just leave it here.

what's ur fave part from wreckage? or maybe a part you think people glossed over that had you excited to post the chapter?

I think my favorite part is the entirety of chapter 10. I had so much fun writing all the bits and it was so satisfying seeing it all come together. I'm still incredibly proud of all the small details that I was able to weave together, and how the characterization came through. I don't think that was something people glossed over though.

The Dream and Ink scene in nm's castle is also something I'm proud of. I think about the proposal a little too often, probably. Dream wanted Ink to feel loved in his last moments- he didn't know if he'd ever see him again. He did what he did with the belief that he was never seeing Ink again.

Idk if I feel that anything was necessarily glossed over- there are moments that nobody has commented on/sent asks about but like. I simply hope that it hit like I wanted it to lol.

There are a lot of funny moments/lines that I love that are so funny to me but idk if other people thought it was funny so. speedround: - "They should have never invested in cable." - "You do know what uno is?" "It means one. In Spanish" - nm finding out that dream and ink were together and immediately having the equivalent reaction of EWEWEWEWEEW GROSS EWEWEWEWEW - blue sneaking error into the OT by just. slapping his bandanna on him. hoping people would mistake him for blueberror/juniper. the fact that it worked - "I know what you are." - chapter 15 having breaking bad references for some reason - Ink not knowing who Cross is

I want to write some oneshots about Cross- and then possibly maybe explore him a bit more in the sequel? But for sure I want to write some oneshots and go more into what the deal is with him. As for Chapter 7- is wasn't actually anything huge. He was going to tell Dream that Blue and Error were both missing. So not anything like. Huge.

Now that the story has all but ended, what inspired you to write it?

(Please ignore if a similar question has already been answered)

I think back in 2020(???) I was thinking about the implications of a character (Ink) knowing that they are in a story. And, if they believed that story was going to end, what they may do to try and keep the story going- as they would know how stories are supposed to go and what would likely keep people entertained. That’s when I started thinking about the fic. I knew the beginning and ending (Ink’s talk with the Creator) and that was about it.

Now, what inspired me to actually write the fic was me actually me going through a creative struggle- I felt as if my work was worthless/not as good as what other people made. I went back and forth on if there would be any point in trying to write the fic. And then I went. Fuck it. I’m writing it for me. And, then I did :)
