The first thing you were aware of was the insistent beeping right by your ear. It was annoying as hell and wouldn’t stop. You could feel how heavy your head was and your mind was cloudy. You didn’t know what the hell was going on but something was tensing in your gut.
The smell of antiseptic took away some of the anxiety. Hospitals. Hospitals smell like bleach and antiseptic so you found your location. But what was wrong with you? Your head lazily moved to the side as your eyes tried opening.
A warm hand brushed hair away from your forehead and gently touched your cheek. You leaned into the comfort, the feeling familiar.
“Y/N?” A voice asked softly. It was smooth with a drawl at the end of his words. It ran over you like a river, making your insides feel warm in the chilly room.
You tried speaking to the voice but your tongue wasn’t cooperating. Instead, a slight whimper escaped, making the soothing hands caress your skin again.
A deeper voice spoke up but you couldn’t even pretend to know what was said. You were so damn tired and achy all over. Your eyes started fluttering shut again, the warm hand easing you to sleep.
“Go to sleep, Y/N. I’ll be here when you wake up.”
That was all you needed to know before falling into darkness. You had one question on your mind, however. Who was Y/N?
———
The next time you woke up, it was to hushed voices. A whole collection of them, including the smooth voice with warm hands from earlier. You winced at the light that suddenly assaulted your eyes as you opened them. A sharp hiss escaped from the pain and the voices fell silent.
“Y/N?” The smooth voice asked, a large hand cupping your small one. “Hey, you waking up?”
“Mhmm,” you mumbled, blinking in relief as the doctor turned the lights lower.
You turned to the smooth voice, eyes widening as you saw a strikingly handsome man looking right at you. He had bags under his eyes but he looked so relieved to see you awake.
“Hey, how you feeling?” He asked, thumb brushing against your cheek.
“H-Hurts,” You grunted out.
“What hurts?”
“Head…side,” You said as an afterthought, the singed feeling growing into hot pain. The nurse pushed a needle into your IV and let go of the plunger, relief slowly going through your veins. “Thank y-you.”
The nurse nodded and left the room to get the doctor and you realized there were two handsome men staring at you.
“You took a rough beating, Sweetheart,” the man with blonde hair and beautiful green eyes spoke. His voice rough and dangerous but obviously caring.
“M’sorry,” The smooth voice sighed, guilt heavy in his tone. “I should’ve had your back. I should’ve been there with you.”
“Sammy, it wasn’t your fault,” Green eyes said firmly to Sad eyes. “All that matters is that Y/N is okay now, right?”
They both looked at you expectantly but you didn’t know what to say. These men knew you but you couldn’t remember ever meeting them.
“Uh…who are you?” You asked, looking at them both.
“Very funny,” Green eyes rolled his eyes. “Like we haven’t heard that one before.”
Sad eyes looked like he wanted to believe Green eyes, believe that this was a joke, but it felt like the young man was looking right into your soul. You stared back, hoping he could find what he was looking for so you would know too.
“Y/N?” He voice was soft, almost broken sounding.
“M’sorry But I don’t know who that is,” you said honestly, watching as his face crumpled in disbelief.
“Dean, get the doctor.”
———
“I’m sorry to say that when Ms. L/N hit her head, a symptom of her concussion was amnesia. All we can do is let her rest and wait it out,” Doctor Conners said sympathetically at the distraught man in front of him.
Dean rubbed a hand over his mouth, eyes falling to his brother who was staring at the wall. Sam’s hands were clenched and jaw ticked.
“Thanks, Doc,” Dean said softly, shaking hands with the man.
“Dean….” Sam’s voice was strained.
“I know, Sammy.”
“She doesn’t remember, she doesn’t remember any of it.”
Dean’s lips drew into a grimace and nodded, “I know, kid. But Y/N’s gonna be fine. She’s strong and you’ll be back to being lovey dovey in no time!”
“I yelled at her,” Sam covered his face in distress. “That was the last thing I did and all she wanted was for me to listen.”
Dean sighed, clapping a hand on Sam’s shoulder.
“It’s not your fault.”
“I should have listened.”
“Maybe,” The big brother agreed. “Maybe you should have trusted her more. The point is, it’s the past, alright? All we can do now is be there for her.”
Sam nodded, his heart aching at the memory of your confused blank eyes which used to be filled with determination and love.
“Yeah. Yeah, okay.”
—————
You looked up as those two attractive men walked in, smiling tentatively.
“Hi.”
“Hey,” Sad eyes said softly, sitting in the chair he was in before.
“Feeling any better, kid?” Green eyes asked, leaning against the bed.
“My head still hurts sometimes and the lights are a bitch but other than that, I’m okay.”
“I guess we should introduce ourselves…again.”
You giggled at the awkwardness they both showed.
“I’m Dean Winchester,” the one with gorgeous green eyes said. He had firm shoulders and a dusting of freckles over his cheeks which gave him an image of innocence. His short, light blonde hair contrasted with his partners dark, thick, long mane.
“And I’m Sam,” Sad eyes said softly, smiling at you with a dimply grin. It was smaller than it usually was, you realized since the indents weren’t as prominent. You wished you could see him in a full-blown smile. Sam has broad shoulders and a narrow waist and was gorgeous in a way that made your stomach tingle.
“S’nice to meet you too,” You said politely. Honestly, you didn’t know how to feel with these two men in your room.
You knew they knew you from somewhere but it wasn’t processing how they knew you. You wanted to know what you meant to these two men, why you were so important to them.
“It may sound hard to believe but you live with us, princess,” Dean smirked lightly, uncertainty in his eyes.
“I live with you?” You started in disbelief.
“Yeah,” Sam continued for Dean. “We met you a couple years ago and we’ve been traveling ever since.” Sam quickly took his phone out and showed you pictures, shuffling through them.
Your eyes gazed over each one, looking for signs of deceit but all you saw was honest to god happiness in your eyes.
“Wow…okay then….”
“It’s a lot to grasp,” Sam agreed softly. “And we aren’t pushing you but if you want to come back home, it’s open.”
“And if you don’t, we’ll leave you alone.”
Sam’s eyes widened a bit at Dean’s statement, looking at his brother in disbelief. He nudged Sam and shot him a look.
“Yeah,” The younger brother chocked out, looking back to your curious face. “We’ll leave you alone, Y/N.”
“That’s sweet of you guys,” You said gently, eyes flickering between the two. “Can I think about it?”
“Sure, kid. The quacks are gonna hold on to you until they’re sure there isn’t anything else wrong with your noggin,” Dean lightly flicked your nose with a tight smile. “If you need longer, we’ll give you some cash for a motel or something until you get back on your feet.”
You smiled gratefully at him, the confusion, stress, and worry that had been clouding your mind clearing up some at the fact they weren’t forcing you into anything. Your eyes gaze back to Sam who is quietly studying his hands. You know he isn’t that happy but is willing to give you the time you need and for that, you are grateful.
“Come on, Sammy. Let’s leave her to some peace,” Dean kicked his brother’s ankle lightly, heading to the door.
Sam startled and looked up at his older brother before his eyes made their way back to you. He looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated and instead smiled softly. Sam gently ran his fingers through your hair, your eyes going wide at the affectionate touch.
“We’ll visit if you want?”
“That-“ Your breath caught in your throat, staring into the eyes of this beautiful stranger. “That would be wonderful.”
Sam beamed, eyes crinkling at the corners as his dimples made a reappearance, “Alright. See you tomorrow, Y/N.”
“Bye, Sam. Bye, Dean,” you waved, watching them leave. As soon as the door to your room closed, you felt like to could breath easy.
You didn’t know why but there was something about Sam that made you feel something. It was familiar and you longed to be wrapped up in it.
You turned on your side and watched the door, the day’s events piling on your shoulders and forcing your eyes shut. You couldn’t wait to see those boys tomorrow and hopefully getting more answers as to who you were.
