Absolutely no hate at all, I love your art so so much but Ella isn’t that light my love, she’s Blasian!! And Gabrielle definitely isn’t darker than her it should be the other way around! Please make sure you check multiple refs of people when drawing them as lighting in photos can tend to make them look lighter than they actually are (check headshots for example, of the official first shadow trailers!!) once again absolutely no hate, I just wanted to let you know that you’ve unintentionally made Ella far too light, thank you lovely!!

hii anon, thank you for being so poilte about your criticism, I appreciate it! ive had far less nicer anons in my inbox recently LOL. I did end up going back to look at the piece youre talking about, and I want to say I did only use a single picture as reference, from which I also colourpicked the skintone for Ella. You're very right, lighting is everything! in fact when I went to grab some more references, I came to realise that Ella looks completely different in each picture, I just ended up grabbing one where the light is brighter. heres a bit of a schematic I diyed :

as you can see, there's 100% pictures where her skin is darker than the reference I chose, but I didn't choose it based on lighting, I chose it for expression, which is what I was practicing with the piece. I tinkered with my piece a bit, because I don't think MUCH change is necessary, but at the same time, I think the background colour was definitely playing into it.

I hope to use this blog as an archive to demonstrate and to document my progress as an artist, storyteller, and hopefully a creator [the kind to make characters, not the general 'hope to find an audience to make money kind]

This feels awkward to do, considering I've never done things of this ilk before, but here's hoping it goes smoothly. Can't succeed if you don't try and all that jazz. How long has Courtney been in blue valley? I think they said about 6 months give or take. So obviously Beth and the team aren't up to full fighting shape. As much as I love Courtney she's a bit to overeager to fight evil, and that can get you killed, though that's a conversation for a different time. What I want to speak about is everyone calling Beth either annoying or useless. Because she really isn't, she needs time to grow and figure things out like the rest of the team. Have you seen her comic book counterpart? She's 28 and a beast obviously that happens OVER TIME. She didn't just wake up like that. The character is younger so we can see her beginning. Comic books are an adventure. no one just starts out good.

Was looking at the bag of recyclables i’ve been waiting to take out with the rest, its been sitting next to my room door for a month now. and that familiar feeling of discontent began growing and growing until it was a little cat mouth biting at my heart. “i know ur tired from the chores and stuff u did today but ur room is not going to feel good until that shit is gone”. then something else came in and said “love ur room not because its just the way u think it should be, but because its urs”. and something very quiet and painful blossomed in my chest lol
