hi luca
hi percy,
the chapter of one piece in which sanji accuses luffy of lying to his face about his bento being delicious (after being dropped and stepped on in the rain), and then luffy finally returns the favor of a clean hit to sanji by punching him as hard as he can? the chapter in which sanji finally admits all he ever wanted was to go back home with his friends?
is called "liar," which is "usotsuki" in japanese. in average kana writing "usotsuki" is a kanji/hiragana combination, written as 嘘つき (uso-tsu-ki).
now, almost all one piece characters' names are writing in katakana. for example, our glorious sniper and FAMOUS liar is named usopp. "uso," in japanese, straight up means "lie." usopps name is written in katakana like this: ウソップ (u-so-ppu).
lets return to the chapter "usotsuki"/"liar." in the chapter, sanji accuses luffy of lying to him about the quality of the meal, even after luffy says its delicious. sanji's being a bit cold, but he's also subtly accusing luffy of lying about his opinion of sanji himself. because it hurts, because, in the arc, its made obvious hes not certain if hes worth the trouble. he wants the straw hats to run away, he wants escape with the straw hats, and he inexplicably wants to save the vinsmokes. its two wishes he feels are completely unable to be achieved at the same time. but they are, luffy tells him they can do both. because he has his friends, because he has his crew, because they love him and he loves them and hes extending his kindness to his abusers and if THATS what he truly wants before coming back home. to their friends. to his family. to their pirate ship, to the sunny,
then so be it.
the chapter of one piece called "liar" (嘘つき), taking place in the arc where usopp (ウソップ) is notoriously absent is written as
ウソつき.
