Sometimes I remember the time an author at his little book booth in a geekfest I was at called me over and said i look like the type of person who liked fantasy books with made up languages and mythical deities, and he was on the dot correct.

Wait spill the tea about JD bad takes

okay i got two asks like this

 so ill answer in one:

the #1 bad take was this:

which prompted the “thats what i thought youd say” and well this needs no explanation.. it speaks for itself. 

and then #2 was he basically blamed analytics for him not winning mvp and that it would be nearly impossible to ever get it because of them (tweet) which idk there are lots of nuances in a statement like this and it kinda just rubbed me the wrong way. Instead of being like “its analytics fault” a simple “but mookie deserved it” would have sufficed and now imo he just sounds kind of whiney.

BUT from a fundamental standpoint i do agree with what he’s saying, that DHs arent widely respected as legitimately as position players are due to the fact that some people say “all they do is hit” (which is just a bad take, not to mention the fact that a lot of american league teams dont have a full time DH, and it is often cycled through a couple different position players depending on who’s healthy and pitching matchups) but obviously when it comes to JD he is a regular DH, and that doesnt make him any less valuable than someone who’s out on the field playing defensively as well as offensively. But for him to just blame analytics and say its all their fault is a big jump to make, especially when the voting terms for MVP are so vague and everyone voting in there has a different idea in their head of what most valuable player actually means.

idk JD is a phenomenal baseball player ive loved him for a long time but he’s said some ignorant shit in the past and i was just hoping he would do better. but.. no.
