When I came out to my family as asexual, they were pretty confused since I had dated.

(Twice. In high school. To members of my friend group that I remained friends with after. Even then, it didn't feel serious. I specified even then that I loved them, but I wasn't IN love with them. They were male, though lol.)

But I explained that I don't even like touching people, let alone touching while naked, and then adding moisture with someone.

Just... no.

They certainly still don't seem to understand, but they've reached a level of acceptance. (Mom tries to explain to people -- sometimes to my mortification.)

I've been pretty emphatic that I can only ever see myself with a woman, so my family has figured I'm a lesbian, not bisexual like I came out to them years ago... And for a while I identified as ace-lesbian.

Then I found out about aromanticism, and that was something I identified with even more.

My family have NOT been fine with the aromantic part.

The asexual part is fine. Lesbian is fine. They are not ok with aromantic.

Eh, I'm sure they'll get over it eventually.
