not so fun character building: Kai keeps in touch (secretly) with Wil, Rikki, sometimes Ishnar, and Wil’s parents, and sometimes the triplets.

pretty much everyone (save the triplets who are too young) check in on Kai to make sure Azrail isn’t driving him TOO crazy and he isn’t being abused.

Kai actively lies to them that it’s not a problem anymore and he was able to get the help of his mom who takes care of it instead :)))) no more abuse because he isn’t as closely allied :))))) and he isn’t friends with Ji Ah because it’s HIS choice. She betrayed him and he doesn’t want to rekindle :))))))

I think this really adds to the depth of Ishnar’s crash out on Azrail later ya know. Also adds to the sorrow of Wil when he witnesses Kai being abused. Adds to Rikki’s insistence that Kai doesn't lift a damn finger when he’s with her in the kitchen (which he isn’t supposed to be in at all)
