|| A Different World rewatch: 3.05 Forever Hold Your Peace
its-a-different-world answered your ask “White people actively campaigned to get Martin cancelled? This doesn't...”
Thanks for answering my question. I remember those little radio spiels. I never realized that they drew from actual letters the show recieved, but I’m not surprised.
Why are you home from work?
Nothing special, just a day off. Throughout much of the week I remain, what I consider, inactive due to my schedule. So I decided to try to catch up on social media, because I’m not always in the know or even logged in and updating. Lord knows I could be doing better with my Twitter timeline. Hell, I have some work I could be doing around the house too. Other than that, no special reason. It’s about another month before I take some paid leave from the office. But I do need to make some plans for the time, because it is rapidly approaching. Thanks for writing, girl.

If you have to choose between watching A Different World or Living Single for the rest of your life, which one would you choose. And be honest! This may be the A Different World fanblog, but I'd choose Living Single.
Now you already know what’s up its-a-different-world!
How did you know I love Living Single, girl? That was my show. I used to watch all of the reruns on TV One. Something about the fact that Khadijah owning a Hip Hop culture and lifestyle magazine, which is sorta something I wanted to do when I wanted to be a rap journalist. You had Maxine Shaw there to give us all life when we needed it the most. Plus, you get to see Black professionals deal with their careers and personal lives. Sometimes both went well, one out of two was a success or nothing went right in either one. That was cool to see growing up, because I wanted to one day have that going on. Then I grew up and realized adulthood is wack as fuck.
While I’m always going to love A Different World, I think the show wasn’t fully allowed to explore what really waited for them after college. They moved onto the new students and lost a lot of things in the shuffle, including characters like Jaleesa. They needed to balance it out better. Once the initial group graduates, the show knows it can’t completely leave the college aspect behind, but it has its moments to leave more to be desired. I say this like either show is on the air or under my control. I liked both series, but I think Living Single just did something great. It’s a shame the network handled it so poorly. That was a show that should have been on the air for a long time. If there are any fan blogs out there, I need to get hip. And thanks for writing.
