She busied herself in the kitchen as she heard the small grunts and loud thuds coming from the attic two floors up, smiling to Charlotte and kept on telling her ‘your father is so silly’. She pulled the girl higher on her hip, holding her steady as she grabbed the mug filled with tea and made her way out of the kitchen and up the stairs to her son’s old room. “Hey,” She greeted him softly when she entered, handing him over the mug. “It’s a little boyish,” She said, looking over at the blue sheets in the white crib. “But I can buy something more for Charlotte.”
Stiles offered a slight smile to his mother in thanks for the tea. He looked to the sheets covering the crib that they only used when Stiles and Emily visited over night with Charlotte. He sighed and tried not to go down that path, needing to keep his head on straight for the moment. "It's fine, mom," he said quietly, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "Thank you." He knew it was just a matter of time for Charlotte to grow restless, so he sipped the tea, enjoying the quiet. On cue, the tawny haired child started to furrow her eyebrows and let out a loud cry, asking her mother. Stiles' heart cracked in his chest, knowing it was going to be rough as the little girl started to realize her mother wasn't coming back. He hated that he was relieved Charlotte was young enough to not remember the heartbreak when she was older.
