[unfortunately yeah. I've read several fics in which she's dead and Nigel is happy about it (usually killed by mobsters, although in one of them Charlie gets drunk and beats her to death???) and two fics in which he kills her himself.]

This wasn’t the best of cases to be working on. It was never easy when the person you’re trying to protect is a bit of a scumbag. The jury wasn’t seeing Nigel as much of a victim but that didn’t stop Rafael from trying his damn best to help bring the charges to a winning close. If anyone could do it then it would be Rafael. He turned in his chair to look more directly at Nigel.

“The case isn’t going as well as we hoped, Nigel.” Rafael admitted. “But I think that if we can charm the jury then we’ll get through this.” He didn’t like the idea of manipulating the jury like this but he knew that he needed the edge.
