[02:48 am] insomnia. the feeling of being restless. tired. your eyes are warm with exhaustion, burning under heavy eyelids that just won’t shut. heavy breaths turned into sighs and tossing. turning. you can see the sky lightening trough the shut blinds, the angle from where you’re laying on the bed giving you just enough of a glip to see the outline of a tree and the grey color of the slightly shifting sky outside.
there’s a constant muse of water hitting the ground outside the cracked window, the chilled summer air blowing in over you. it’s comfortable. not too warm, not too cold. you hear a few birds start to converse somewhere outside, it must be nearing 3 am. “my love, why are you still awake?” the previously sleeping lump beside you asks. her voice, which is barely above a whisper, is soft and sweet. she’s always been a gentle soul, a comforting person with an aura that makes everyone around her relax. she’s like a real life angel, she seems so in tune with herself and her emotions and the entire world around her. you look over at her, barely seeing anything in the dark room. you can make out her face, covered in strands of hair, eyes half open as she supports her weight on her arms to look at you. you just smile, reaching one of your hands out to move some of the wild black hair stuck to her face.
you move closer to her, and without speaking she lays down again understanding what you’re motioning for. jieun was wearing a white tank top, so your cheek meets her warm exposed shoulder as you burrow your head into her, the feeling of her slender arms wrapping gently around you comforting you. “sorry i kept you up, i was dreaming of you.” jieun whispers, and you can hear in her voice that she’s seconds away from falling asleep. you move your head, pressing a gentle kiss to the shoulder you’re resting on.
“no worries, love, i’d stay up forever if it meant i got to meet you a hundred times more in your dreams.” you mutter back at her, smiling softly to yourself when you realize that she’s already sound asleep, her almost red lips slightly parted and her cheek squished against the shoulder you’re not leaning on. outside the rain had settled down, the steady sound dripping lulling you into a floating sleep.
