If this isn't the cutest letter I've ever received from an inanimate object, idk what is!! 🎁✉💕 The most interesting thing I've learned on my #MeetTheIUC journey so far has been the TRUE statistics about birth control methods and their effectiveness. Pills are only 91% effective while IUC is over 99% effective!! That's a big difference. Plus I hated remembering to take the pill everyday! I also learned that the amount of hormones in my IUD is a very small fraction of the amount in BC pills. Important information for people who experience bad side effects from the pill due to the hormones! There are options out there! This journey of learning about the IUC (which I've used as contraception for a year now) has confirmed my decision as the right one for my lifestyle. Ask your physician about your options! I got an IUD yesterday and it was low key traumatic and made me super dysphoric. I'm sure for others it's fine. I didn't take painkillers before the procedure and I wasn't mentally ready to become hyper aware of my uterus. But honestly shout out to Planned Parenthood for covering this up to $1,000 procedure. They have a pay scale that's super helpful. The staff was awesome and kind. All the staff I saw yesterday were women and I felt safe. On the form, they asked for preferred pronouns. The staff never had to refer to me with pronouns bc they were speaking directly to me but it was comforting to know they'd asked.
