We want to push the frontiers of online entertainment and tell stories that you can watch in bite-sized chunks, and that you can watch in any order that you like, but at the same time when you watch more episodes, the answers to mysteries about the characters and their world will be unlocked.
What's Our Show About
Coping with his loss of faith, a young priest has his world turned upside-down when he witnesses the resurrection of an immortal being named Divine. Given sanctuary by the church, Divine leads a never-ending crusade to show lost souls they have the power to choose their destiny between good and evil. With guidance from the priests mentor and Divines street-smart sidekick, the Father must now confront his own demons and the dark forces that challenge Divine.
My opinion? Eh.
I like the plot. Execution, however, could be better.
Growing up Catholic, it's interesting to see the interpretation of the degree of peoples' faiths. Some are 'devout' while others question their own faith and, it seems, the faith of others.
I don't like the introduction of demons and monsters. I think the series would do just fine without that.
Acting... depends on the actor. Some are just great while others could stand taking some classes. The sidekick is super cliche in her little school girl outfit. She tries too hard to be a badass. She needs to pull it back a bit.
I'm more interested in the supporting characters than I am with the main characters. I want to know more about the Deacon and Father Christopher. The only mystery Divine seems to have is why he is being 'punished' by God. I don't care about the young priest...I can't even recall his name at the moment.
The introduction is very intriguing. It really draws you in, but the series itself doesn't seem as dark as the intro.
The CGI is alright sometimes.The 'demon' was done very well. Divine beating himself... not so much.
Makeup is really good. I'm not sure if the bleeding in the first episode would fall under this general category or under CGI but it was done very well.
I also enjoyed the makeup of the 'demon.'
I don't quite see the graphic novel influence, though.
Over all, I will watch it again. It's just the first go and I'm sure they have to work out some kinks.
As I said earlier, although some of the characters didn't quite develop in the first.. season? A few did, and I am interested in finding out more about those. Enough mystery was created and enough story was told to make me want to come back.
I'm an interested in seeing what they change about the second installation of webisodes.
