The Hollywood Knickerbocker
This odd corner - 6330 Franklin Avenue - is where Harry Dean Stanton's character lives in the underrated film The Black Marble (1980).
The castle-like structure is located on the very edge of the Hollywood freeway between Vine Street and Ivar Avenue.
Right across from it, on the west side of Ivar, is the Alto Nido - the apartment building where William Holden sits at a typewriter in the opening shot of Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard.
A few doors downhill is 1817 Ivar, the apartment building where Nathanael West reportedly wrote his famous Hollywood novel the Day of the Locust.
