After a mysterious, violent accident ripped away the memories of her past, Paige Matthews has been on a mission to rebuild her life. That life wasn't supposed to include being attacked by demons or forced to leave the only home that she remembers.
Riley Stone can make the dead do his bidding - for the right price. When he saves Paige from a bounty hunter sent by demon official Bruno Proctor, he knows he's stumbled into something dangerous and potentially lucrative. But the closer he gets to Paige, the more he finds himself inexplicably drawn to her plight. Perhaps if he can help her recover her memories, he has a shot at redeeming himself from his own unsavory past.
On the run from Bruno, Riley and Paige don't know who to trust. As Paige's memories start to return, it becomes clear that their meeting wasn't a random coincidence. Paige's soul hangs in the balance, and Riley needs to use every dark, magical trick up his sleeve to keep her safe.
*I was given this ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review*
Paige Matthews goes for a late night run to try and clear her head, the next thing she knows she’s being bitten by a demon, and rescued by Riley a necromancer for hire. Having no memory for the last three years has left Paige open to make a new quiet life on Calamata Island, until she is attacked. Now she has to figure out what makes her so “special” that hordes of demons led by a demon official will stop at nothing to get her.
I loved that even though she was in a very intense and Treacherous situation, Paige still remained fierce and bold; even when finding out the one person she thought she could trust was lying to her. Sinclair truly brought to life the demon hunting world of Riley and Paige; both being strong characters in their own rights and beautifully written at that. For those who are fans of Supernatural i think you would love Awaken. With the war between Angels and Demons for one girl who can’t even remember why she’s being chased, it makes for a suspenseful and fun read chock full of surprises, by the end of the book I was left wanting more & I am so ready for the second book it’s not even funny…. Seriously!
