thinking about mr. young again and wondering just how the fuck they were allowing a 10yo into a high school classroom for field experience. and then wondering how tf he survived student teaching high school at 14 years old and still chose to become a teacher.
hell, I'm 20 years old and I was getting mistaken for a middle school student in my field experience. was adam 12 years old and brandishing his college ID like a shield to not get his mom called and his preteen ass sent to detention for being in the halls without a pass? was he 11 years old observing a high school bio lab, getting glared at by ivy for not leaving her alone even though he was just existing and getting his hours in? he was like that 12yo kid passing out papers in college chem, telling the others to email him with questions, wasn't he?
furthermore, adam young may be a genius, but he's also dumb as hell for choosing to start teaching at 14 years old. student teaching should have been a clear indicator that he would be disrespected as an authority figure if he's barely the same age as his students. did he need his clearances? is this child going to report abuse of someone older than him? "I'm a mandated reporter" but you're 14. you're 10 years old and required to report abuse of anyone under 18, but you aren't 18 yourself? or did he not need them, making field observations a nightmare to be approved for?
what was his certification area? how is he teaching all the sciences? was it specifically physics? why do they have the same science class for four years? is it a canada thing?? did he only have one class to teach? was he getting tenure at 17 years old? if he had other classes, could he report a senior beating him up in his first year as child abuse? I mean, I guess slab would count towards that, sorta, but still.
just...thinking about adam young's career path now that I'm on a similar one in a normal timeline.
