Ranking the Scream franchise
Hey, guys today I'm going to be ranking all of the Scream movies. Remember, everything is opinion based. You are allowed to agree or disagree. Now I will be ranking on a S-D tier, I will be linking the tier list in the end if you would also like to use it! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!
Not only the first in the franchise but a classic. I don't think I have to explain why this deserves the S tier, but I need this, I love this, you can't beat it. The movie did impact the horror genre, especially slashers! It incorporates a bunch of classics within itself (If you are someone who likes to look for easter eggs) I recommended rewatching to look at all the comparisons! And lastly this is definitely a favorite amongst the queer community.
Now there is no such thing as a "bad" Scream movie to me, but God, was this forgettable. I am not a fan of this one, while I understand the idea was it was supposed to be just like the first one, I just don't love it. Now the script was messy due to the leak of the original one. I really don't like this one, and the killer reveal just doesn't make sense! Mrs. Loomis yes. But I'm sorry, Mickey reveals himself after not being in the movie for 45 minutes. I just forgot about him. The only thing I liked was that this was the first time we get introduced to the Stab franchise. Sorry but this is D tier, I'm not watching this.
Before I even started this, I knew I would put this at the bottom of my tier list. Surprisingly rewatching this I am going to put this slightly higher. Now this one is in Hollywood and the first time the voice changer can apparently change to anyone's voice perfectly. That was already a con for me and the time the movie came out there wasn't even technology like that. On top of that there's only one killer, which turns out to be Sidney's half-brother? Yeah, I don't know. But I like the movie because not only does it go after men that are in power in the industry, but it also shows Sidney's relation to her hometown and how she struggles to let go. It's going into C tier, Don't care too much for it.
Next to the original, this is my favorite! With the best killer reveal, this one HAD my attention! Introducing some of the new gens in that appear in newer movies, the kills were great. With returning cast, which the main three always had great chemistry, I think it's the ending the truly makes this good for me. The ending, which was rewritten, has one out of many of my favorite scene. The fact that Jill almost gets away is priceless. A tier, I'm paying full attention.
The movie that was supposed to be a direct sequel to the 4th and a re-start to the franchise to introduce the new gen. I was really excited to see this when it first came out and the opening scene did not fail me, but the plot did. I'm not a huge fan of the dead dad plot, and how Billy even got someone pregnant before dying in the original. And on top of that her SEEING Billy and how he coaches her..., Again I'm not a fan. There's also the fact that Amber was the one who killed Dewy, how I have no clue, I just feel like it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I've always had an issue with the killer putting the mask on and immediately becoming a superhuman. B tier, My attention is there, but not fully.
And finally Scream 6, this felt so drawn out for me. It's definitely more action based. Again, the dead dad thing is bugging me along with the super strength of the killer. Maybe I am boring, but I just couldn't watch it without being bored. C tier, Don't care too much for it.
I hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I did. Let me know if you have any other franchises, you want me to rank.
