Ivys Gif Stamp Tutorial :3
Decided to make my own tutorial on how to make gif stamps!! Lmk if any wording needs to be changed/updated or if you have any questions :)
Hello, I don’t know if I’m allowed to ask things now or if you’re too busy, but I wondered how you got the stripe texture on these stamps because it looks really nice
I also wondered where you got the transparent frame since it’s really cool too, thanks in advance!
Becuase @transmascgarfield deactivated and he had a very good tutorial, so I decided to make my own!
I will be using Procreate for this, which is NOT a free app, but it works almost the same as Ibis Paint X, which IS a free app.

I will be using a 99x56 stamp template, show above, and a little line pattern shown above as well.
——
first, insert the stamp frame into a canvas. (99x56). Make the background transparent.
copy and paste the frame to make 2 of them, as shown in my layers.
Fill the second frame layer. The colour doesn’t matter.
Then create a clipping mask and colour the whole layer. This will result in the entire frame being red.
merge the clipping layer down, and then move the entire layer under the original stamp frame.
Next, you can insert the line layer! (It’s at the top of this tutorial). Make sure it is clipped onto your bottom layer.
Underneath the lined layer, add your photos!
You can change the splice(?) of the lined layer. Making it Color Burn, Multiply, Add, etc). As well as the opacity!
Create a new clipping mask and clip it to the top stamp frame.
Adjust the colouring, splice, etc until you like it!
Boom shakalaka!!
and remember to play around!! This is just the absolute basics, but find your own style! You can change the spice of the stamp frame, which is something I do often.
If you have an questions please feel free to let me know, I’m happy to help :D
specifically for @idog-graphics, but of course anyone can follow this tutorial!!

userbar overlay I will be using for this tutorial ↓↓↓
First, make a canvas that is 1138x60 pixels!!
next, insert the userbar overlay! (Image at beginning of this tutorial)
Create a layer underneath and colour the whole thing.
adjust the colour layer to be just slightly smaller than the outer-rim black part of the userbar overlay. Basically, make sure the colour isn’t touching the black.
underneath THAT layer, you can colour a new layer. You don’t have to adjust this one, it should fill the entire canvas. You cant see the colour underneath right now, but you will be able to in a moment.
Select the overlay, and change the blending layer! I personally like Screen of Colour Dodge. NOW you can see the underneath layer.
Add text! I primarily use this font.
Change the colouring, blending layers, add photos, etc! Play around.
Userbar!! Yayyy :)
If you have any questions feel free to ask, I will try my best to answer!!
Any tips for the fellas who are barely getting into making these types of web graphics? (I’m fellas)
Tips for new graphic makers!!
Honestly been meaning to make this a while myself, thanks anon for reminding me lol
Fuck around!! Genuinely. Everything is trial and error. Lots and lots of graphic making is experimental, literally just mess around. Even if it doesn’t look good, even if you don’t know what the hell you’re doing. Learning from doing is the best way to improve!
Cohesive elements. This is especially important for things like themepacks, because you want your graphic sets to flow nicely together. The best way to do this is colouring everything the same way. You can achieve this is by using PSDs (photoshop documents) or specific colour overlays. This can also be achieved by using similar elements for the entire set (lace, flowers, hearts, same font, etc).
Get inspired. No, I’m not saying COPY other creators, but taking inspo or copying techniques is totally okay! My first day on tumblr, I reached out my favourite editblr blog and asked them a bunch of stuff. It helps immensely to see how others make their graphics. Even today, I still save graphics I find cool to use the techniques or ideas as inspo later on :)
Always have overlays/background saved to your camera role. I find it SOOO annoying when I’m trying to make a graphic, and i have to go all the way back to Tumblr/pinterest to find decent overlays or pngs I can use. Instead I just have a gallery in my photos where I keep my favs. Here are the ones I use most!
well holy shit I’ve been pondering for hours on what to add next, I’m stuck. Okay here are your FOUR NOTES ON GRAPHICS MAKING YAY!!
Ivys Userbox Tutorial!!! Yay!!!
first off, there are lots of different sizings for userboxes. I personally use one that is 640 x 172 pixels, but I’d say the most common ones are 827 x 168
the blue ones is 872 x 168, and the red one is 640 x 172. I’ll be using the red one for this tutorial.
I will be using Procreate for this tutorial, which is NOT a free app, but this tutorial should work with most drawing softwares, and I’d say Ibis Paint X is the closest to Procreate.
first, make your canvas and create a new layer and fill the entire canvas.
then, resize the layer to your liking.
erase a line a bit less than 1/3 of the rectangle. The box on the left is where your picture will go.
for the sake of simplicity, the photo box will be box A and the text box will be box B
Select box A and copy it so it has its own layer
look at the layer tab on the right of this photo, that’s what I mean.
now, you can create clipping masks for both layers.
Add whatever photos or colouring youd like!!
Smack some text on and BOOM!!! Userbox!!
yep that’s it. This tutorial is very fluid so I suggest you mess around and find a style you like. There’s no right or wrong, this was just a simple explanation.
if you need any help hit me up and I’ll try my best :D
Can you do a tutorial on your stamps where the image kind of carries on onto the border of the stamp please? I don't think your stamp tutorial covered how to make them :,) thanks!
