Sand
Amble feet tread on the wet sand near the shore, you stand there breathless; That one spot you’ve chosen many times before has a new feeling; A feeling of relief; You grasp the sand, feeling the gritty texture run through the crevices of your fingers; Remembering those many suicide attempts as if they were yesterday, those dark times that suffocated your brain for years on end; Finally feeling thankful for the once regretted failures; That one spot you’ve chosen so many times before knows you better than your closest friend; A dip in the sand was trusted more than any human; Along with the ocean that has soaked up the endless flow of tears, drifting away the sadness with every moment; Only to be reintroduced the following night; You now sit in that very same spot, your mind filled with hope; Filled with the happiness your body craved day and night; Those pessimistic days have come to an end; The ones you thought were everlasting; And you can finally feel the ocean water graze the soles of your feet; Because your body is no longer numb.
