Walking backward, Chase was finishing up his conversation as he walked out of the big house, laughing softly under his breath as he nodded and waved goodbye to the other person he was conversing with. Just as he turned, he realized too late that another person was right behind him, and he didn’t have enough time to move before he ran into her. “Shit,” he said, reaching out to make sure that she didn’t fall from his impact. “I’m sorry, love. I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
