Rodrigo: Art fair hangover

Inez: Tell me about it...it's like we missed a whole week (😬) and missed the most important day of the year...MY BIRTHDAY!!! (i'm accepting gifts all month)

Rodrigo: You accept gifts year round I think. Or I just like buying you things. It’s about time we do a recap of Armory Week in New York before we both leave for Asia.

Inez: OMG! You fly to Beijing in one week! I can't believe Art Basel Hong Kong is right around the corner. What do I wear?

Rodrigo: This will be my first trip to Basel Hong Kong and China! Can't wait for you to show me around. See you on the other side of the world!

IZ it Monday?

Inez: IZ it really Monday? I thought it was Friday. I made it through Frieze Week with just a sprained wrist. 🤕

Rodrigo: Sorry about your wrist. It really was a lot of walking and talking. And don't forget the sauna that was Frieze with no AC.

Inez: That was not so cool.. literally. 🤣 #heatwave Though, it was nice to see everybody at Donna's and then Hometown BBQ...🍖 good art and good food goes hand in hand.

Rodrigo: We have quite an eclectic group of friends and contacts. You can tell we have great projects brewing.

IZ it Monday?

Rodrigo: Frieze hasn't even started and it seems like we've worked on 20 art projects.

Inez: My stomach hurts from too much excitement and i'm having trouble thinking about blogging. 🤢 How will I ride that ferry? 🤮

Rodrigo: I was going to say "don't worry, we're making pits stops in Red Hook for 1:54 and Greenpoint for Moniker." However, when we go to Red Hook you may have to drag me out. My favorite BBQ place is there and I am a Texan...

Inez: Hmmm...Hometown BBQ. Maybe we can make a pit stop after 1:54 VIP Breakfast, can we eat on the ferry? I'm sure my stomach will be better by then. 🐷

Rodrigo: BBQ cures all. We may never get to Frieze.

Inez: 🙀

IZ it Monday?

Inez: Hey Rodrigo, how’s ur first experience with jetlag from Asia? 🤔

Rodrigo: I bragged to everyone I don't get jetlag. My words came back to bite me with vengeance.

Inez: Since I last saw you in HK, I’ve been all over China 🇨🇳 from Hohhot, Inner Mongolia to Qingdao and Qufu in Shandong to Suzhou in Jiangxi to Shanghai and now in Beijing. I’m usually pretty impressed with the speed of development in China, but two things of note on this trip: 1. the efficiency and speed of the high speed and subway systems throughout China. 2. The WeChat payment system. There is no need to carry around cash in China. A quick QR code scan and the amount owed is deducted from your account. This applies to dining and groceries, buying a car, a Picasso, a train ticket, paying your elect bill or even just sending money to a needy brother.😶

Rodrigo: My subway train broke down 25 times while I was reading this.

IZ it Monday? 3/26

Inez: How was Beijing? I just landed here...layover...then HK Art Basel Preview in the afternoon.

Rodrigo: Beijing was amazing and overwhelming. Where do I begin? The Great Wall, the Summer Palace, 798 Arts District, its all so much!

Inez: Can’t wait to see pictures! Are you ready for Hong Kong? We have a jammed packed schedule.

Rodrigo: Bring it on! I was born ready.

Inez: New York, New York...

Rodrigo: Seems like you do all the traveling and I just stay put.

Inez: You have to hold down the Castle of Greyskull.

Rodrigo: I am pretty strong and it is Armory Week here in NY. We have quite a schedule of events this week including talks, art fair booths and private collection tours.

Inez: OK He-Man 💪🏽! I will fly in on Swift Wind 🦄 and join you tomorrow. Super stoked to see all our collaborators and all these exciting art events. Started tuned tomorrow for details in Art World this Week.

Inez: What happened to the weekend?

Rodrigo: It came and went and now it looks like Armory Week is approaching. Lots to see and do.

Inez: I can't believe Armory Week is next week. So many shows, so little time! Still have to do the Month in Review and 2 Cents for Collectors...this blogging thing is a real commitment...when will I have time to pack?

Rodrigo: Lucky for me I live in NY but Art Basel Hong Kong isn't too far off! In the meantime we have some really odd Art News this week and some fun art and animal segments to keep things interesting. See you for Armory Inez!

Inez: IZ it Monday? Still recovering from last week.

Rodrigo: Me too. I spent enough money on Valentine's Day to buy a Warhol.

Inez: A print or a painting?

Rodrigo: Very funny...print. I'm not that rich.

Inez: Um...still...that's quite a fancy present? Lucky Mrs!
