I’ve found that due to the whole “mamapika” thing and general mischaracterization, people often forget that Kurapika is in fact a teenager who acts like a teenager. Granted, he acts like a teen in the same way Gon and Killua act like twelve year olds. But his behavior is nonetheless realistic for how someone his age would act if given his circumstances. He’s stubborn and can occasionally be very impulsive. To me that’s part of the tragedy of his character, he carries so much baggage for someone so young

And this is exactly why I like his dynamic with Izunavi. Up until that point in the story we’d really only seen him interact with people he was on somewhat equal footing with, or Gon and Killua who are both younger than him (not including bosses and powerful opponents ofc). But Izunavi treats Kurapika the way a teacher would treat their difficult student. He recognizes that he can’t control Kurapika’s actions, but he still calls him out for his self-destructive behavior in a way the other characters don’t. Of course, this relationship isn’t what saves Kurapika, but it does help him gain the strength he was looking for. And having those scenes to remind us how young Kurapika is makes his tragic moments all the more impactful

but i just want to appreciate how izunavi just seems genuinely worried for giuliano I CANT WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN i wonder what will happen speaking of current plot
