Bantam parent ocs, I’m cringe yet free. Rambling about their deals under the cut, because I’m wordy.
TLDR a heap burlesque dancer turned wing brotherhood sky pirate mother and a father who was the bantam during the longest quiet period lemuria had ever had who never took being purple very seriously except for when it could help pick up women. A real rooster of a man.
Squala, a Brahma born and raised in The Heap. She knows one thing is for certain, money and fame are the only things that matter in life. Passion for flair and the dramatics she ended up scoring a burlesque gig. In her eyes she was the only act worth seeing in all of Heap, quickly grew disillusioned with the lack of adoring fans and her skimpy paycheck. Naturally she takes matters into her own hands and begins stealing little bits here and there from work, just getting a bit closer to what she rightfully deserves!
During this time a certain man who caught her eye, he was witty, not from Heap, and was a very generous tipper. Just as egotistical as her, they passed the time stroking … watch others egos. He only got better in her eyes when he revealed he was “The Bantam”, some big hotshot in the Wildlands, someone who was something, just like her. Dipping her toes after him into the Wildlands was the best thing that ever happened to her. That’s how she encountered the Wing Brotherhood, a group of sky pirates that offered her more than Heap ever did. It was an easy choice really, to start smuggling even more out of Heap at their request. It’s what the place deserved really. And who cares if they’re her lover’s sworn enemy, neither of them needs to know what she does in her own time, besides, it makes things exciting.
Good things can’t last forever though, people start catching wind of what she’s doing in Heap and she runs, sheltering with the brotherhood. Her trips to meet The Bantam become fewer and more far between. She’s hiding secrets from him, he can tell, and fights start popping up. Really she should cut him off completely, she’d get in real trouble if she was caught fraternizing with the enemy, and he’s being a real buzzkill lately, but she’s still caught up in the excitement. Shes climbing the ranks in the brotherhood when then one massive, egg shaped roadblock appears in her path. Whoops. Well, if anything’s a sign she needs to pick where her loyalties lie it’s this. So she does, dumping the egg outside the Bantams temple, deciding to let go of the last remnants of her “old life.” She’s definitely found success. Nowadays Squala mans her own fleet, an all female crew of Sky Pirates known as The Flock. The only signs she ever looks back being the gifted pearl necklace she still wears, and a smug confidence she’ll be able to weasel her way out of any troublesome “ghosts” that might try to get in her way.

Kit Bawker Sr, the 20th in the long line of Bantams. It’s been a long time since the Wildlands have needed their hero, and unlike his son, the quiet period never really ended for him. This suited him just fine honestly. To him the title is just that, an impressive title void of any of the responsibilities that come with it. It means people take him seriously when he decks himself out in purple spandex. The training his father gave him wasn’t for nothing, he’s in great shape, and the ladies love it! And there’s these vows or something … well those impress people too.
Easily bored he takes frequent trips into Heap under the guise of “Jungle Patrols”, and it’s here he met a real knockout gal. She impressed him with her gumption, they had the same sense of humor. He could tell she wasn’t made for this place, and he would be more than happy to show her his way of living. Which she was very clearly impressed by! Another perk of being The Bantam. Sure things didn’t work out in the end, but there was always more fun to be had out there. What do you mean he has “responsibilities” now. Fym congrats whose egg is this. Uh oh.
Was he a great father? No! Was he a great bantam? Hell No!!! Did he try his best? Also not really. Of course he still trained his son in the ways of The Bantam, he didn’t really know what else to do, and besides it helped him out didn’t it? Though he can’t help but be a little annoyed at how… seriously his son takes all of this. It’s not like the bantam will ever be needed right?
Mr Bawker passed the bantam title down to his son the way it’s traditionally done by dying. Badly. Albeit younger than most and before The current Bantams training was necessarily completed, his son still a fledgling. A damsel in distress offered something shocking, a a real heroic responsibility. How was he supposed to know it was a trap, that she was a bounty hunter hoping to get paid big time by the very pirates his past fling ran way with,it’s not like he’s never done this before!
