Another week, another chapter! This one almost didn’t want to be written though, ugh. But I’m keeping to my deadline, even if it’s only self-imposed. I also updated the playlist here. Thanks for reading everyone and see you all next week!

A Promise Not Forsaken Chapter 6: But Still, I Rise

Welcome, dear readers, to my surprise: a character aesthetic for the leading lady of AMBERSHIELD: Isoldera Ambershield.

I adore Izzy so much and had a lot of fun creating this piece. But wait, that’s not all. Underneath the cut is a snippet of her character profile. Enjoy!

Body Type: Full-figured and curvy, Izzy is lush and endowed, with good muscle tone.

Face/Appearance: Izzy's facial features are strong, but elegant and graceful. She has long, black, curly hair that's very thick and sleek. Violet eyes with thick, dark lashes. Lightly tanned complexion from time spent outdoors.

Birthplace: Caluire, Aermond

Lifestyle: Izzy grew up in the Sisters of Illyara Cloisters. It was a very simple life, no luxuries, but there was always good, plain food, fresh air, and books to distract her. As an adult, Izzy keeps to a practical life but she does like pretty things and is incredibly fussy about having everything in its proper order. Her weakness is luxurious baths, with flowers, scented candles, oil, all the trimmings. She has a number of skills for practical, daily life on the road as an adventurer, all in keeping with her desire for self-sufficiency.

Family Relationships: Since their parents' deaths, Izzy and Cait have been their only family. She comes from poor farmer stock, her parents having died from illness (mother) or illness brought on by injury (father), with no money for a healer.

Her older sister, Caitriona, is her idol. She was her protector, her guardian angel, who taught Izzy how to embroider, who tucked her into bed, and taught her to sing. Yes, they had fights as siblings do, but they always made up because neither could bear being alone in the world. When Cait graduated, Izzy was only 12, and she missed her dearly. Cait's disappearance hit Izzy hard, and although everyone else around her gave up, Izzy refuses to. Her life's goal is to find Cait, or her body, and her life revolves around doing what she believes would make her sister proud.

Friendships: Beyond Cait, Izzy never made a lot of friends. She was more interested in books and scrolls of power, spells of all kinds, and improving her skills. But there was one young man she developed a fierce bond with.

Nikodimos Brenwell is her dearest friend in the world. She met him when she was 15 and he 20, fresh from his graduation from the hunter academy overseas. He was badly injured, his companion animal was dead, and she saved his life. In turn, he taught her everything a hunter knows about survival and they became fast friends. However, Niko spends much of his time wandering, so the times she sees him are infrequent, but they keep in constant contact. He's her confidante, champion, and the person who filled the hole left behind by Cait's disappearance. She has no romantic feelings for him, but sees him as irreplaceable nonetheless.

Romances: A brief, innocent flirtation with a fellow acolyte back when she was 16, but nothing since.

Sexual Experience: None. Even though she is fully mature, Izzy has never felt the “stirrings” for another person.

What Attracts Them?: Kindness. She's a sucker for physical affection in the form of hugs, cuddles, and hand holding. Someone who knows how to dance. A nice smile. A sense of humor. Well cared for hands.

Occupation/School: Izzy is a certified priestess, having graduated from the Sisters of Illyara Cloisters. She was the top of her class and is a rank-4 priestess on a 1-10 base (10 being lowest and 1 being highest.) She was schooled in basic math, reading, writing, philosophy, ethics, theology, and history, but her specialty was healing.

Hobbies: Embroidering, singing, dancing, cooking, practicing her fighting, reading.

Introvert/Extrovert: Introvert

Strengths: Tenacious, resourceful, independent, ambitious, loyal, intelligent

Weaknesses: Fussy, judgmental, stubborn, mistrustful, hot-tempered

Goals/Dreams/Aspirations: She wants to find out what happened to her sister. This feeds her ambition to become a priestess of high acclaim. She'll have access to records and information that others won't if she manages to make a name for herself. Izzy craves complete independence. She doesn't want to rely on others, because to rely on them and lose them brings heartache.

Fears: Death, spiders, bugs of any sort, drowning, abandonment, trusting others.

Fatal Flaw: Deception

Izzy's life, since Cait's disappearance, has been about presenting the perfect face to everyone. She uses this mask to hide from the world, from intimacy, and her own insecurities. Izzy's journey is about taking off the mask and let herself love and trust again.

Who/What Would They die For?: Cait, Niko, and her duty as a priestess.

I’ll be honest: “Nothing to Lose but the Dawn” has always been my weakest project. I was going through a period where I absorbed a lot of outside influences and thought that if I didn’t follow them, the story wouldn’t be as good. There are some moments I’m proud of, moments that are all mine, but for the most part, I hated it.

So much so that I’ve taken it down off of Ao3 and am set to rewrite it.

I don’t have a timeline for when I’ll actually start posting the story, but the outline is in the works and already I’m seeing a lot of promise. I’m going to spend more time with the characters, introduce plot threads that will take us into “Rise of the Warlord,” while still keeping some of the epic scenes I had in my original draft. Mostly the Crusader’s Tourney and Icecrown.

The story is going to revolve around Izzy, Sylvanas, and a bit of Varian as they all confront their pasts with Arthas and work to carve new paths for the future. In honor of the journeys they’re going to take, the new story will be called:

“Toward the Dawn.”

As Izzy and Desi make their way to Warsong Hold, the warring Red and Blue dragonflights put a stop to their journey. Meanwhile, Varian Wrynn grapples with being a king and father as Bolvar Fordragon sets sail for Northrend.

Thank you to everyone who has been so patient and understanding between updates. Treatment has been going well and although the month has been rough, I’m slowly getting back into the swing of writing everyday. Art is taking a bit longer to come back, sadly, but I live in hope.
