A/N: Day 1′s fic for @criminalmindsweek​ .

Later JJ would wonder how the hell this happened. She had expected, deep down, to find that Elle had convinced Emily to come to her, that Elle had convinced Emily to let her in, fall deeper in love, risk everything. Then Emily left for a while. Clara had been a surprise, Elle admitted later when JJ asked. Emily had brought the woman home first, then Kristy. Kristy even now flinched at loud noises and JJ knew, she knew, that Kristy had been through a lot and Clara found a peace in caring for the other woman that seemed to calm her need to protect people. In the end JJ had been the one to know they were in danger. It starts, of course, with Alex Blake. Alex getting hurt. Alex, in the end, passing out on her way home and JJ bringing her back. It had been hard to convince her they weren’t enemies, that helping Elle wasn’t a bad thing, but slowly, slowly things began to thaw. “I can’t believe I ever trusted you…” Alex still sounds frustrated three months later and JJ sighs, her voice soft. “Just trust me one more time… she needs help.” So they do, they collect Izzy when she’s released from jail, taking her home and Elle smirks when Alex’s eyes soften at the sight of Izzy carefully tucked under her blanket. JJ had held the woman for several hours as she cried, then settled her to sleep. This, it seems, is the thing to draw Alex deeper into loving JJ. They are an unconventional little group, of course, but JJ knows when Tara snaps that they will have to move. Have to collect her, bring her home. Tara falls apart that night, Izzy surprising everyone by choosing Tara over everyone else. This, in the end, is enough. They move slowly, they are careful and they only take on problems who escape the BAU. Later, much later, Emily brings home Regina, the last member of their group and someone who will float between ‘families’ within the group.

Locked Up - Izzy Rogers/JJ Jareau

A/N: This weeks prompts for @soheavyaburden​ ‘s ayearofwhump begin.

JJ visits Izzy sometimes. The woman is smaller now, timid, broken and JJ swears she saw this before, even when she had to fight for her child’s life. Izzy here, in the psychiatric hospital, is tender hearted, sad and small and broken in ways she hasn’t seen in a while and JJ feels her heart break when the woman flinches away from her carers. “Izzy?” “Please… get me out of here. I’ll behave…” “I… can try.” Later she brings Izzy home, arranges to continue her treatment in an outpatient facility and swears she will never again leave someone to suffer.

Branded As His Rescued As Hers - JJ Jareau/Izzy Rogers

A/N: Time for this week’s fic for @soheavyaburden​ ‘s A Year Of Whump.

Izzy flinches away when JJ moves to take her shirt, stilling only when JJ inches closer, then sighs and lets JJ take it, her eyes closing at the feeling of JJ’s fingers over her grandpa’s marks, his brand. He had branded her the second time he dragged the barely teenage Izzy to bed, told her nobody would love her for who she was, what they were doing. His words still haunted her and she’s trembling at JJ’s lips find her ear. “Mine now.” Her voice is low, husky and Izzy’s breath escapes her in a soft sob. She had been awful to JJ, almost killing her husband and nearly blowing up most of her friends, still she can’t help being glad JJ had chosen to bring her home when Will serves divorce papers. “My Izzy.” “Yes. Yes JJ. Yours.” Her voice shakes but she smiles when JJ traces her fingers over the branded wound again, she’s safe now.

Uneasy Lies The Head - Regina Lampert/Izzy Rogers

A/N: Day 15 is finished for @whumpril​ .

“Do you trust me?” The question is soft, Regina folding herself into the empty space on Izzy’s bed. Izzy’s been quiet, almost silent, since the day she arrived and her quiet trembling makes Regina all the more sure she needs to look after her. “Yes, no…. I don’t…. I don’t know.” Izzy’s voice breaks and Regina moves slowly to stroke a curl of hair from Izzy’s eyes, noting the girl’s flinch and speaking softly. “Okay, well… try and sleep, you’ll be okay here, they don’t really bother us.” Izzy tries, Regina watching over her, then wakes and shifts, rolling over to burrow her face into the skin near Regina’s scar across her upper chest. Regina shudders and Izzy smiles slightly into her skin, letting her lips brush against the scarring again. “You are so beautiful.” “Thank you.” Regina murmurs and Izzy nestles against her skin a little more, letting herself fall asleep with Regina’s arms around her, a hand in her hair, she feels safe here, held like this. Her own grip tightens a little when she has a nightmare and Regina hushes her softly. They have forever here, there’s no point rushing.

A Kingdom Of Isolation And It Looks Like I’m The Queen – Izzy Rogers/JJ Jareau

A/N: Day 15 of @whumpril​ begins.

Isolation. Isolation since she turned 12 has broken Izzy completely. She knows it, enough so she seeks out the person who can kill her, end it all. She doesn’t expect JJ’s son to heal her heart as much as he does. The boy is soft, sadly sweet as she tells her tale about ‘grandpa’ and she sobs when finally she’s caught. JJ brings her home late, when it’s clear Izzy isn’t a danger anymore. Izzy is silent when JJ tucks her into the spare bedroom. She’s shivering and sobbing but silent and JJ knows that Izzy still feels the sting of isolation. “Try and sleep, you’ll be okay.”

The Truth - JJ Jareau/Izzy Rogers

A/N: Part 2 for Day 14 of @whumpril​

Izzy’s voice cracks as she speaks, she knows she’s doomed to a life in prison if she’s not careful, but then JJ steps in, her voice low, roughly warm. Izzy craves closeness, love, with someone and she likes risks, so the chance to prove herself has tears rolling down her cheeks. JJ’s holding back tears as she brings Izzy home. Losing Will had hurt, the man’s foolishness letting Izzy’s partner kill him, but she’s still sure enough in her plan that she knows she can and will try to trust her. She crumbles silently once Henry is put to bed and Izzy slips into the bed behind her, curling around her so gently that JJ finds her breath catches slightly. “I’m sorry JJ.”
