In two episodes of the German dub of ‘House of Mouse, Joachim Kaps reprised his role as J. Thaddeus Toad.
THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN
It feels kinda surreal to finally actually have the plush that was at the top of my grail list.
He's absolutely perfect in every way, I really could not ask for a better plush. The horse (I've dubbed her Alptraum) is SO soft, the Horseman's cape is smooth as hell, the details are immaculate, AND HIS PUMPKIN HEAD EVEN COMES OFF
Toad is also wonderfully made and I'll be putting him up for adoption soon to whoever would like him. I'm gonna actually do an auction for him, which is exciting to me, because I've never done an eBay auction before.
HUGE shoutout to BlakelysDeals on Mercari for giving me a great deal on these two fellas!

A monocle, not because you need one but because they make you look more refined. Being late, but never admitting it because you are there exactly when you planned to be. Putting yourself before everyone else. Knowing that thing need to happen in a correct order, but thinking maybe it's okay to mess up that order because that means it will happen faster. There was a good bit of his younger years spent running from his problems, which only seemed to grow the longer that he ran from them. There was a part of him that just wanted to stop, but he never did. He continued to run up his credit and try to forget about the home that he owned back home. It felt like a ball and chain at this point.
When he was 24 he was wrongfully arrested for a crime that he did not commit. Spending time behind bars was not in his plan. He had good things that he was supposed to be
Thad is a wild spirit. He is always somewhere, doing something, another grand adventure behind the next door and he is going to be the first to take an opportunity. In other words, he's extraordinarily impulsive and doesn't always think decisions through all of the way.
As wild as he is, Thad is a kind spirit and he means well, even if others can't see that in the way that he acts.
At the end of the day, his happiness is what's important. He will put what he needs to at risk to make himself happy.

Cyril Proudbottom : His best friend. Ride or die. Cyril listens and does what Thad says, which makes an amazing partner. Roommate.

Kipp Winkie : Not the best dude, but Thad doesn't think too bad of him.

Review 11/53, The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad
Released in 1949, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr.Toad was the last of the package films that consisted of a couple of shorts or multiple shorts strung into one film. In my opinion, out of all the package films Disney released, this was the most memorable and the most enjoyable. I enjoyed this film as a kid and I enjoy it now that I'm older and I understand it a little better.
The Adventure of Mr. Toad is based on the famous novel Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, and I feel like it captured the essence of the book really really well. All the characters are really enjoyable and memorable and the plot itself is enjoyable. J. Thaddeus Toad is an eccentric character who owns the prestigious Toad Hall, but he spends a lot of time and money on one fad after the other, or "mania" as the British people call it. Toad becomes obsessed with cars and he makes a really dumb deal with this guy named Weepy, who takes him to court saying that Toad stole the car and has him arrested. The rest of the short is him trying to clear his name as antics ensue. To me, this is a really enjoyable cartoon and it has a more lighthearted effect than the short that comes after it, considering it has a happy ending.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is based on the story of the same name by Washington Irving, and let me just say that the tone and the look of this short is just pitch perfect. It ups the creepy factor and it's got some great animation. This guy named Ichabod Crane moves into a town somewhere in New York known for ghostly hauntings as the new schoolteacher. He has an obsession with good and takes every opportunity to eat. He meets Katrina Von Tassel and attempts to woo her away from the town bully named Brom Bones, who one night at a party tells of the tale of the headless horseman. When riding home, Ichabod comes across something that can scare the life out of you. I love the tale and I love how this short can be big on the laughs but also big on the terrors.
So I've noticed a severe lack of J. Thaddeus Toad, Esq. on the Tumblr. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Maybe there's a plethora of pictures and gifs of Mr. Toad's misadventures.
Anywho... I thought I should be part of the solution.
Enjoy!
I really REALLY wish they had made The Wind in the Willows a stand alone movie instead of packaging it with Sleepy Hollow.
