Stunning J-36 CGI by Mplifier1975 “The Flying Dorito”
@Mack8miltech via X
J-36, formally known as Alki, from the resident J pod off the west coast is my life.
Look at J-52's adorable open saddle patch!! It reminds me of L-120's saddle; unfortunately L-120 died just shy of its 3rd week last September.

"In the photo both calves are swimming alongside Alki. J50 is the calf with the scratch, or rake marks, on its little dorsal fin. J52 is on the other side of Alki." Source: Vancouver Whale Watch
The J-16 matriline was seen today, as well as both J-50 and J-52! Though some speculated that J-40 Suttles (11 years old, not part of J-16s) was J-52's mother because she was observed with them last week, she was not with them today. I firmly believe J-36 Alki is J-52's mom! Center for Whale Research needs to confirm, though.
In the first picture, J-16 Slick (43 years) is with J-50. In the second, J-36 Alki (16 years) is with J-52! Western Prince Whale Watching & Wildlife Tours said the pairs were "just a bit" from each other, but were "generally pretty close together." How sweet for mother and daughter to raise calves together!
