Reese: That's the great thing about a DEMES. Hermetically sealed environment, complete atmosphere filtration. Best smoke you'll ever have!
Agent Blayne: What do you do about the ashes?
Reese: I welded a little ashtray in here, right under the keyboard.
Klayton: No one ever asked about that?
Reese: Yeah, sure. I tell 'em it's a slot for my whiskey flask.

Mack: Yes, Agent Blayne. Of course, I have also attempted to take your life numerous times today.

Mack: That is an accurate analysis, Agent Blayne.

Agent Blayne (Internal Security Division) and Mack (a virtual intelligence) acknowledges an absurd situation in the excellent podcast Derelict: Fathom (E10). Written and directed by J. Barton Mitchell. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.
Something has been found at the bottom of Earth's ocean. An ancient artifact that can only be described as a giant door, inset into the sea floor. It becomes known as the Vault. A gigantic enigma, buried and forgotten...nineteen thousand feet down. To study the artifact, the galaxy's most powerful corporation, Maas-Dorian, has built a massive, self-contained, secret laboratory base surrounding it, named FATHOM. It's objective: unlock the secrets of the artifact and discover what it holds.
Klyne: ...this room is a compactor. The walls are moving towards us.
Chambers: It's going to crush us?
Klyne: No. The walls will stop short of that. It simply positions the refuse in the center.
Chambers: Oh. Okay. Okay...
Klyne: So that the floor can open and drop everything into the plasma furnace below.
Chambers: WHAT?!

Weird & Wonderful Wednesday
Marcus Flynn is a prisoner on one of the hardest prison planets in the universe, 11-H37. Oh, and, that’s also where some of the worst criminals are kept too. Not a good situation at all. Then it gets worse when the planet becomes uninhabitable. The staff get evacuated. The prisoners do not. And so it’s up to Flynn to lead all these people to survive the planet’s demise. Oh, and, he also needs to survive working with them as well.
This was such an interesting story idea to start with. Then add in the fact that it was chock full of action (whew, tired me out here and there) and the awesome characters as well (gotta love twisty back stories!). It was a really fun Sci Fi read.
