Feeling nostalgic, so I’m posting my old cello audition pieces, plus a piece(s) that I just played obsessively at odd moments.
This is my favorite of my audition pieces and I played it for every audition from Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra to Midwest Young Artists to competitions at my school I had no shame
J.C. Bach - W A8 - Keyboard Sonata Op. 17 No. 2 in C minor
The sonata is set in 3 movements: 1. Allegro (0:00) 2. Andante (6:22) 3. Presto (10:27) Composed in 1777 and published in 1779. Performer: Harald Hoeren, piano.
Military Music: J.C. Bach (1735-1782), J. Haydn (1732-1809), Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837), and Franz Schubert (1797-1828)
I had many possible choices under the theme of Military Music. Enjoy these musical selections. The Hummel Military Septet is a lesser-known masterpiece.
