HE’S MOTIONLESS IN HIS SEAT, pouring over tome after tome of text that dizzies his mind. It clouds his thoughts with boredom and he’s left re-reading the same paragraph over and over again until someone enters the room of his study. It’s one of the maidservants, something warm in her hands no doubt, sent by his mother most likely. Jin smiles at her thankfully, using this unintentional intervention to turn around, looking out the frosted planes of the window. For a moment he is nostalgic, the ghost of the past making him remember the summer when the window was always open. Whoever his mysterious gift giver was, he’d never found out.
However, what surprises him about the weather now are the fluffy, fat, snowflakes drifting lazily down from the sky, the ground already covered in a thin layer of it. Before the older woman can leave, he suddenly turns around. “Could you please ask Nayeon to come? She steeps the best tea...” But his gaze goes back to the scenery outside, and he tacks on more to the end of his question. “Tell her to bring her outside garments though, the hallways are a bit drafty today.”
As the woman leaves, nodding her head to acknowledge his request, Jin reaches for his coat, starting to dress in an appropriate manner for the...excursion, he plans on embarking on.
And he must have taken an exceptionally long time, tidying up the space of his desk in between dressing, because by the time his door opens again, he’s surprised to see Nayeon there, even though he’d been the one to ask for her presence. “Oh,” he starts lamely, before finishing buttoning up his coat, tying the robe closed at the waist. “you’re fast.” Picking up his pair of leather gloves, he stuffs them into his pocket before regarding her with a smile.
“Let’s take a walk in the gardens.”
