this was a doozy. two sets of full length people and faces??? whew. i had cobbled together a handful of lower quality references and i feel like i sort of learned a bit how to take references of other angles for better quality to fill in the gaps, which is extra challenging because i don't have any sort of mental rotation abilities. for example, i did find a photo that showed jensen from the side and had his tongue out a little in this moment, so i had to try to generally figure out what tongues look like straight on and also recreate his teeth from another better quality straight on reference.
and as i neared the end, i was slightly devastated to realize that they were practically different styles - the left over the shoulders situation was much softer in detail, but the right had a lot more sharp chunky detail - partially due to the fact that the piggyback ride took place in a location with a lot of harsh overhead lighting which made a lot of very vibrant highlights. i tried to sharpen up my details a little bit on the over the shoulders painting to match, but decided to just accept that one was kinda fuzzy and more cartoonish and the other was a little more realistic. my official reasoning can be that they were technically spinning in the over the shoulder situation, so it's a little motion blur. that's it!
Jensen and I always had our trailers right next to each other, wherever we were.

if this was a digital painting i'd be doing some color correction but alas! this was a tough one. a big veiny hand, two faces - jensen being challenging for me to draw in the best of cases and at a funky angle/perspective. i've been working on it off and on for 3 weeks now, i'm calling it.
(for context of this moment, i included it at the end of this gifset)
