My thoughts on Godzilla Issue 1

I really dig the mother-son dynamic between Jacen and Rumi.

The action is pretty cool.

I dig the comic's worldbuilding.

I low-key ship Nuki and Jacen.

Marco is sus.

Lament kinda feels like he'd be a better second arc villain.

Rumi comes off like Miki Saegusa in that she's a psychic.

Riviera is loads of fun.

It's interesting seeing a super-hero take on G-Force, something we haven't seen since the Trendmasters toyline.

I'm a little iffy on Anguirus just retreating. It feels a little OOC for him.

The art by Nikola Cizmesija is a nice blend of western artwork with some manga flair.

Jacen feels like a more rounded character than someone like, oh, say Haruo Sakaki.

All in all, a pretty good start to the Kai-Sei Era and I can't wait to see where it goes.

One thing I really dig is the ambiguity of the death of Jacen's Mom. Yes, it's implied she died when Godzilla turned Seattle into the Deadzone, but for all he knows, she probably died in something more mundane (compared to a Kaiju dropping a building on you) like a car crash.
