Jack Cullen is a voice that needs to be heard. The Hertfordshire based singer songwriter has stopped us in our music searching tracks with his superb third single, Shine. Like many artists we’ve come to love and adore, Cullen also had a very different prior life before he decided to dedicate himself to his music dreams. He once played professional rugby back home in Ireland, and he’s now returned to his hometown to broaden his horizons as a gifted artist and songwriter, having toured with the likes of multi-platinum Keywest as well as dazzled listeners with his first official singles Learn and Teabags & Cigarettes, as well as his gorgeous cover of Sigrid’s Sucker Punch. On Shine, Jack Cullen voice rises earnestly over a bed of sparse piano and the occasional twangy guitar curl. Shine is intense yet warm in equal measure, topped with Jack’s pure, heart-felt lyrics. It’s a stirring love confessional, delivered with fervent conviction.
Speaking on the track, Jack states; “Personally the song is an appreciation of someone in particular that made me feel good and gave me a new lease of life, whenever I was feeling down. In a time of darkness, whatever that may be to someone, there will always be someone or something to provide light. You just have to find it.” Listen to Cullen’s prior singles, rustic heart wrangler Teabags & Cigarettes and reedy jangler Learn, below. Shine is out now, here.
