Title: Is there a “Love Me....please?” flashing neon sign over Tanner Buchanan’s head or something?
Why is every character played by him so attention starved and desperate to be loved? 💔
- Robby Keene (Cobra Kai) spent the first sixteen years of his life raising himself after being neglected by both of his parents and later on his mentor/sensei. It got to the point that he was so desperate for affection and parental guidance that he decided to go live with a violent war criminal.
- Connor Lawson (from Max Winslow and the House of Secrets) was just an insecure teenager who wanted his parents to be proud of him. He literally ended up RESTRAINED to a chair until he tearfully confessed that he hated himself because of his parents high expectations of him. 🥺
- Charlie Gardner (Girl Meets World) was so desperate for love and affection that he was willing to go on a date where he wasn’t even allowed to talk to his date. Who does that? And he still didn’t regret going, because it meant he could spend time with her?? 🤯
- Jack Downey (The Fosters). That just ended horribly and still makes me sad. 😭 I don’t even want to think about it.

This show is rated a 12 on Disney plus so as an 11 year old i watched it. i was pretty emotionally mature for my age so i didn’t have much of a problem with some of the subject matter. it was great but when Jack Downey died i remeber not really processing it as he was older so it didn’t seem that bad. as a grew up and got closer to 14, i started to rewatch the show with my mum who was a new viewer, and when we were introduced to Jack again, i realised i had completely blocked him out of my mind. i started to notice that i really hadn’t realised how much it had messed me up. i was just crying for days randomly after he was introduced and when i saw his death episode again it really hit home. i was the same age as this kid. he was not a “big kid” he was a little boy. he never found a home, he never knew what it was like to have someone unconditionally love you. he never had the security of going to bed at night in his own bed in his own home and knowing he’ll always wake up to the same room. and that unknown and deprivation is the cruelest chance. he lost his life when he was still alive. and when he dies he lost the chance of ever getting it back. anyone responsible for that damage to a child should have a life sentence. because that’s what they gave him.
when i later googled it, the show is a 16+ on most streaming services. but for some reason disney thought it was appropriate to have it come up for all ages.
the scene itself wasn’t too graphic, but the emotional AND psychological trauma it gave me still gives me issues today.
Rest in peace Jack.
May you land amongst the stars.
May you find other angels.
And may you find your kingdom in heaven.
