Happy New Years from the townsfolk of Little Pocket!
Been slowly building up sketches of the gang that'll be being put in art fight this year for ref sheets!
..I don't wanna see any of their ugly mugs for a bit after this though cause ough this was a lotta work... I'll be putting my focus towards my comms till I can clear out my queue!
OOOHHHHH YEAH BAYBE YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS
That's right! It's been a bit, but doodle game makes it's triumphant return! I was... kinda lacking motivation to draw as of late, so I figured this'd be a good way to refuel my fire!
Since it's been a bit, let's get everyone reacquainted with the rules! Want to see a character (or characters) of mine in some situation? Send in an ask and I might pick it out to draw! This can include kink (minus ones that I'll specifically highlight in a moment!)
For a list of all my characters and their universes, check under the cut!
Been thinking about the idea of being a burden as of late- feeling overbearing by your sheer existence or that you're constantly inconveniencing others in that way.
I remember especially feeling that way a few years back when I was going through one of my bigger bouts of depression, back when my state determined in person classes were allowed again. Interacting face to face with people again, I had started feeling like I was being too much for my peers, and often isolated myself, using art as a creative and emotional outlet instead of expressing my feelings.
It was around that time when I had created Riley and Jack, a pair of siblings navigating a bumpy life, needing to often lean on the other for support. Riley especially was having a tough time (I'm sure you can see why I eventually latched onto them as a sona before they became their own distinct person). There's a reason they cover up their hands and arms nowadays.
Jack, on the other hand, became a voice of reason and comfort. Someone who loved unconditionally and unwaveringly. It had always confused me why he did, despite me being the one to write his character. Then, the idea for a comic came to me one day, exploring those feelings.
I hope it resonates with you as much as it did with me.
What are some times where Riley’s pranks and hijinks have backfired onto her in a hilarious manner? (Let’s ignore the whole wereplush incident thing, since that did more than just backfire…)
Oh, this is one that Jack is never gonna let them live down!
So Riley has made a habit of pranking Jack every Halloween. Usually it's just a little thing, and this was no different. So a few years back during one of Violette's Halloween parties that Jack was in town for, Riley had decided at one point or another that she was gonna go get Jack and them some punch, which set in place the prank.
As they collected some punch, they also had grabbed a thing a vinegar and food dye from the cupboard and began making a foul cocktail with the punch. Now of course Riley didn't want to absolutely blast Jack's taste buds, so it was only a little bit. Still enough to be entirely unpleasant, but it might take you a second to get it in the aftertaste, y'know? That also made it relatively easy to cover up with food dye since Violette likes dyeing the punch a deep blood red anyways. Afterwards, they had just grabbed themselves a regular thing of punch.
Unfortunately, they got caught up in the middle of helping Violette with something party set up related and had to set their drinks down somewhere, but this also meant that when they got back, they had managed to forget which drink was the spiked one, which led to a really awkward game of chance when Riley got back with the drinks.
Jack thought their gagging was the prank for a moment before figuring out what happened.
An extension of the "Big Pocket" headcanon (which is canon, neat!):
A saying in Little Pocket is that, whenever someone goes to a Whittleton college (or they have a job/career over there, some manner of competition, etc.), a few LP folk like to say they've "Got Big Pockets to Fill." Instead of "Big Shoes to fill"
I know that's not what Big Shoes means (it's something about how you have a lot to look up to being in comparison to the people before you) but it's a neat idea
Oh yeah I forgot to answer this till now but I love this idea!!
Honestly, the first thing this brought to mind would be the tear-filled goodbye that Riley gave to Jack when he was first leaving for college. The exchange of heartfelt emotions... all ending with the sentiment "You've got big pockets to fill"
Do your characters have any old things with sentimental value?
Riley is like 90% sentimental value, so a decent amount of the stuff they own falls into this category. Her brother's old knife will always be one she holds close though, especially cause it's been through thick and thin with both Jack and Riley.
It's a demonstration of their bond as siblings, and all of the powerful, sometimes painful emotions that come with that. The countless uses it's seen, the blood it's drawn, it's a symbol of life lived. Riley never leaves the house without it.
