When Monica Vernon got upset that Braley's campaign wouldn't include them
“We could do the fancy things, get the fancy singers or whatever, but I think for us it’s been a grassroots thing,” Monica Vernon said.

Maybe a not-so-subtle jab at Braley's campaign, who didn't invite Hatch-Vernon to join them for a Bill Clinton and James Taylor rally in Des Moines??

When Branstad was annihilating Jack Hatch in the new Iowa Poll
A Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa Poll conducted last week underscores Branstad's wide lead and many advantages heading into the homestretch of the campaign.
Overall, Branstad is the choice of 54 percent of likely voters, compared with 39 percent who favor Hatch.
That 15-point gap between the candidates is in line with earlier polling, including a September Iowa Poll that showed Branstad with a 14-point lead. What's changed since then is that more voters have made up their minds: Only 4 percent remain undecided, down from 10 percent.
Branstad leads among every demographic group identified in the poll except for self-identified Democrats and respondents who said they've already voted. He even bests Hatch among women, voters under 35 and lower-income voters — all demographics that generally go for Democrats.

When Jack Hatch pulled down TV ads in #IAGOV race
The campaign of Democratic candidate for governor Jack Hatch has suspended television ads in two Iowa markets, including Sioux City, and changed its advertising strategy in two others but denies it's a sign the campaign is struggling financially.
"We're just redistributing how we're doing some things to reflect the polling that we're seeing," said Grant Woodard, Hatch's campaign manager.
Woodard said as polls change "we're going to make decisions accordingly."
Television ad buys in the Sioux City and Davenport markets have been placed on hold and ad schedules on Des Moines and Cedar Rapids stations have been changed.
Branstad's campaign manager, Jake Ketzner, said it's a signal the Hatch campaign is struggling to find the money to stay on television.
"The story is, it's 43 days out and he's broke and he can't be on TV," Ketzner said.

Iowa GOP chair blasts Hatch over killed bill
August 26, 2014 By O. Kay Henderson
The chairman of the Iowa Republican Party is accusing Jack Hatch, the Democratic candidate for governor, of killing a bill in the state senate that would have been a hit to Hatch’s bottom line as a real estate developer. Iowa GOP chairman Jeff Kaufmann says Hatch has been trying to “hide the truth” about his business from Iowans.
“This is just one more example of where his job as state senator has lined his pockets,” Kaufmann says.
In 2013 a Republican in the state senate introduced a bill that would have reduced the fee property developers could claim on tax credits that are issued by the Iowa Finance Authority for low income housing developments. Senator Jake Chapman, a Republican from Adel, says Hatch used his position as chairman of a three-member SUB-committee to kill the bill.
“Hatch, a man who has made millions of dollars from developer fees, killed the bill,” Chapman says. “He stuck it in his desk drawer, never held a (subcommittee) meeting or let it come to a vote because it would have personally cost him millions of dollars if it had passed.”
Chapman says Hatch should have cited a conflict of interest and removed himself from any decision-making on the legislation.
