UNKLE - Hold My Hand
His Kind of Woman • Director John Farrow
On My Knees by U.N.K.L.E. (featuring Michael Kiwanuka) from the album Music inspired by the film Roma
The Narrow Margin (1952). A woman planning to testify against the mob must be protected against their assassins on the train trip from Chicago to Los Angeles.
This is a fun little cat and mouse movie, with some great framing and set-ups. It utilises it’s premise fully, and it makes for a tense, dramatic crime thriller that works more often than it doesn’t. 7/10.
UNKLE - Keys To The Kingdom
Only You by UNKLE (featuring Wil Malone and Miink) from the album The Road: Part II / Lost Highway - Visuals by Doug Foster based on his short film OVUM
Because we are checking the latest last works by those who had a lot of hype behind them, I noticed that most of the discussed were rockers despite the fact all genres consist of their own victims of such a huge boost. We must only look at the 90's electronica to hear what I mean. Unkle, for instance, keep going on, though I must say I was surprised over their latest discs, i.e. The Road, Part I and Part II. Sure, they might not be Psyence Fiction, since they meander too much, yet the latter also gives these LPs a certain I-don't-give-a-damn quality. To be honest, many of their contemporaries are currently attempting this approach with varied results, but Unkle seem to be going somewhere that might combine their usual style with a modern sensibility.
