Oh, I fucking loved the season 2 finale, i nearly screamed when I read "Moriarty" in the subtitles

I figured that all was probably happening in his head rather quickly, but the not knowing how much of it and if it's actually gonna be resolved the way i thought was really good

“You’re miserable for nothing. I don’t know why you’d want to live...”

Elita: Meanwhile at the little pop up base just outside the destroyed Magnolia Heights… the press conference was ready to begin.

Timothy: Ladies and gentlemen thank you for coming. I know you must have lots and lots of questions, but I assure you, we are going to be honest and forthright. A couple of weeks ago, this District was nearly subject to a dreadful tragedy, worse in scale than anything we see here. As you all know, one of our space stations fell from orbit and nearly landed here.

He paused for a little dramatic effect.

Timothy: Thankfully, the remaining personnel on the station acted quickly, and bravely, and neutralised the threat before it could do more harm. So let's open up for some questions. Yes please.

Reporter: I’m here for the San Myshuno Mail, Minister, what exactly caused this to happen as there are a lot of theories circulating online?

Timothy: I am familiar with these theories. What actually happened, was a highly trained team of agents, sadly, went rogue, and they decided to try and do this. These agents slipped through the cracks of psych evals, due to budget cuts, we simply weren’t able to maintain the staffing levels from before. It was most definitely not the result of any foreign power, and The Citizens Republic is certainly not to blame. I want to categorically state that. Next question!

Reporter: Dan Jenkins, San Myshuno Times. Senator Moriarty, as the senator for this District, what can you do to assure the people that you will ensure that something like this doesn’t happen again? A lot of people are still very frightened.

Jack: What happened here was a disgrace. I am convinced that the influx of lefty leaning liberals into the Senate is to blame. These liberals want to cut our defence, our cops, and push their nonsense agenda at the expense of people’s lives and safety. I will work, TIRELESSLY, to ensure our forces are properly funded so that never again can people under such stress and strain place everybody else at risk. The more we focus on nonsense! The more likely we will be placed in such danger again. 

Reporter: But Senator, are you not a member of the Progressive Party?

Jack: I was, but as of this moment, I renounce that membership and I will be joining the Loyalist Party and that is the banner I will fly, when I stand at the next election. It's time to put the people first!

Timothy: I think we can all agree with what my colleague has said here. Now more than ever we need to unite and stand by our brave fighting men and women! And that is the honest truth!

Nickie: Nickie Catzunburg, independent journalist and investigator. Are you really going to be honest with the people this time Mr. Symons or will this be another elaborate lie to veil the truth? 

Timothy Symons: Ah the redoubtable Ms Catzunburg, of course we will be honest. The station was infiltrated by a small but crack group of Special forces personnel who sadly had suffered mental breakdowns, due to funding cuts. Quite what their motives were, we do not know. 

Nickie: I have it on personal authority that there were no funding cuts that would cause such mental breakdowns. 'With body count at the base, there would be no need for such cuts.

Timothy: In recent years Ms Catzunburg we have had to cut various sectors of the military care provision due to these funding cuts, we can thank all the liberals in the Senate for that. Luckily, we have Senator Moriarty here who stands with our brave fighting men and women and he will fight with me to make sure funding is increased so that our heroes, our veterans are looked after, physically and mentally. What happened was a tragedy, and one, that this government is dedicated that it will never happen again.

What a night on the town!

Elita: The destruction was considerable, and people had a lot of questions about this. In times like this, people turn to their leaders for guidance, reassurance, and a promise that this will never happen again etc etc… That is the fundamental truth of an elected politician. They will always have some comforting lies for you. Kind of why I like Sulani’s system of governance, they have one benevolent leader, and he doesn’t have to kiss ass for votes, if news is bad, he fucking tells it like it is… These motherfuckers though… well, they had their reputations to think of.

Elita: Not Operative Tynas though, he was just surveying the carnage, he didn’t have to worry about votes… just his job! So, we have Tynas at the front, then we got Timothy Symons, the Minister of Military for the United Districts, and of course in the red suit, Senator Jack Moriarty, Arnold’s papa and District crime boss. As corrupt as it gets. 

Jack: Look at all this fucking damage! The place has been totally blown the fuck apart! 

Timothy: An evacuation was sounded but we don’t know how many got outta here. We’re still assessing the death toll and the displacement. 

Jack: The fucking elections are coming up soon Tim, and I don’t want to lose my spot in the Senate!

Timothy: No, well I don’t wanna lose my spot either, but after this debacle I’m gonna have to resign! So you can spare me the pity party Moriarty! You need to be a Senator, like I need a hole in my head, you got money to burn! 

Jack: That’s not the fucking point Symons! I didn’t know all this shit was going on right under my nose!

Timothy: There’s always shit going on. That’s the nature of politics. 

Jack: I want to know how this happened. 

Tynas: Sirs, if you’d kindly mind your steps there’s a lot of loose concrete and cracks in the surface. I’d hate for either one of you to trip.

Timothy: Don’t you worry about us Operative Smith, you just focus on your tasks.

Jack: Right now all I know is that the Agency space station fell from the sky and seemed to magically steer itself into the sea instead of smashing into the middle of the City and turning everything into a massive fucking atomic crater. And your office won’t tell me anything. Apart from the bullshit “there was a malfunction” story…

Timothy: There’s a lot of sensitive information, pertaining to the incident that we really cannot afford to be leaked to the general public.

Jack: I am NOT, “general public” Minister! I am however the elected representative for this District and right now, MY people, MY voters, have suffered a massive catastrophe that they survived by the skins of their teeth and no more!

Nickie: Ah, yes. the infallible Moriarty family, now this all makes more sense. How many people did they have to pay off to keep everyone quiet? The survivors of Magnolia Heights all reported seeing the flying woman aim YOUR rockets at their homes. They deserve the truth.

Senator Moriarty: I cannot comment about any "flying woman" unfortunately, but I was in my office helping to coordinate the evacuation of key areas. I would have happily come out onto the streets myself in person if I had to!

Timothy: The rockets you speak off were launched by the station as it fell. If it wasn't for the quick thinking, and resourcefulness, and fighting spirit of the brave men and women on the station, this calamity could have been considerably worse. Those men and women are heroes, let's not forget that!

Elita: In the background Operative Smith ever so subtly shook his head. The only man who knew the real truth. The fact they were all alive to talk about this was down entirely to a 21 year old college boy. Nickie though, held her own recording in her pocket of what Apex had said to her that night, she was very near ready to play it for them...

Nickie: I doubt that Senator, that you would have come out of the bunker that the government keeps key people in safety while the rest of the community is left in the wake of the tragedy. Mr. Symons your story falls short, how can the rockets that are video recorded coming from the ground be from the station? My resources say your military force was infiltrated by a single madman whom you've never been able to detain. This madman single handedly tore the military's base asunder, killed General Viery of the Space Division, and then kidnapped the wife of a known war-hero!

Timothy: As I explained to the gentleman earlier, the station is used primarily for research purposes and defensive purposes, it has access to ground based rocket systems as well as its own. As for a flying woman I believe this is another one of those hoaxes to get "clicks" on a video. I cannot perceive such a miracle as this. And it was not a single madman, a single madman would have been stopped, easily. Might I suggest to Ms Catzunburg you find better sources, preferably ones that don't wear tinfoil hats… 

Nickie: Not even a single military enhanced super soldier? I believe the term is “Isotope 9?” Was the last information I was able to gather. Three of five subjects went mad from your chemical compounds. Didn’t they?

Timothy: “Super soldiers” Ms Catzunburg are an urban myth. I can assure you, the United Districts never created any such things, and such persons are to be found in the pages of science fiction and comic books only. 

Nickie: Well I can assure you this, “urban myth” does exist. I have met the perpetrator before he tore through your base. And Professor Eichler still seems to be out there teaching at a university too! The one man who knows the formula better than you do.
