I fucking love the idea that non-trauma formed plurality only exists cause plurality is "trendy". /s Like, you do realize that's exactly the thing docs do to deny all of our existence right? You've heard about how the chair of the DSM-4 wanted MPD outright removed cause he thought we were made up and "trendy" right? That there was and is a huge amount of psychiatric professionals what think dissociative disorders are caused by over enthusiastic therapists?

Kicking our fellow plurals down with "they're just trenders" feeds into the mindset that we're all "just trenders".

And as far as non-trauma formed systems are just "trenders" goes, ask yourself what mediums and theosophists are if they aren't frauds. Seriously, being plural has been a thing forever, and only recently have we had a widespread belief that it ain't ghosts or elemental spirits. Hell there are even famous af MPD cases that would fit the framework of endogenic plurality; systems what believe they woulda been plural without the trauma.

And lastly, of fucking course the numbers go up when you have more awareness out there. More people learn about plurality, more people realize "oh shit that's me/us." Hell we probably would never have figured out we was a we were it not for pro-endogenic spaces.

Sysmeds: DID is not "alter disorder"!! There is so much more to this dissociative disorder than just having alters.

Also sysmeds: If you have other people in your head then you have to have DID! That's the only way!! You're not allowed to be plural without DID!
