Linda looks up from her book when she sees movement out in the hall in the corner of her eye. "Sean?"
The little boy appeared in the door way, clutching his stuffed bear.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" She puts her book on the nightstand as Sean enters the room.
He walks to the bed and crawls in, immediately getting under the covers. "I can't sleep."
"Why not?" She pushes his hair from his eyes, trying to calm him down a little. She isn't sure why he's worried, but she can tell he is.
"Is the guy Daddy is after.... Is he going to... come here?"
Linda feels her sick to her stomach. "No, no, Sean. That isn't going to happen, okay? Daddy, Detective Jackie, and your Aunt Erin are doing their very best to catch him."
"Is he gonna hurt somebody again?"
She licks her lips, wondering if she'd have to go back to church and confess to the lie she may or may not be telling her seven year old. "No. He's under police watch. They're not going to let that happen again."
Linda shushes him and kisses his head. "Tell you what. Why don't you stay here with me tonight, hm? That way, if you can't sleep again, I'll be right here."
"Okay, Mommy," he gets comfy beneath the covers, the big duvet nearly swallowing him whole.
Linda kisses his head again and turns off the light. She puts an arm around him, and hugs him. "We're safe, Sean. Daddy made sure of that."
An hour later, Jack appears next to the bed, tapping Linda's shoulder. She sighs quietly, a little angry at the family for talking about that scary man in front of her boys. "Can't sleep?"
He shakes his head, a little embarrassed.
"Get in," she picks up the covers and Jack crawls in. "We're safe, okay? Daddy made sure."
"Okay," he says, just like his brother before settling in.
She's going to have to talk to the family again about their "shop talk".
