Her Name Is Jack
We need to have a talk, guys. Specifically about the use of “Subject Zero” and “psychotic biotic” in reference to Jack.
Subject Zero was a designation used to dehumanize and abuse Jack at the Teltin facility. Subject Zero was what she was called by the people who drugged her, tortured her, and forced her to kill other kids. Straight from the wiki, “[Jack] reacts violently when addressed by her former designation [Subject Zero].” She hates being called that; it’s linked heavily with the violence and abuse she suffered as a child. As for me, I will not be reblogging anything to this blog that treats “Subject Zero” as just an alternate name for Jack.
On the topic of “psychotic biotic”: Your humble host is quite literally psychotic, in the medical sense of the word, and while Jack has shown a few symptoms of psychosis, the use of "psychotic" in her case is referring to her violent tendencies, while grossly misrepresenting her very real mental illness. Unlike “Subject Zero,” the “psychotic biotic” moniker is used in good nature by her students, but on the other hand, it is still a misnomer, and an offensive one.
This blog will not be reblogging anything that uses either one of these phrases as simply an alternate name or moniker for Jack. Her name is Jack; she chose it, and we should respect that.
