There was something about places like this that always made Jack feel severely underdressed, even while wearing his best business attire (his one plain button down and the only pair of dark wash jeans in his closet without holes in them). Today, this feeling was only exacerbated by the knowledge of who he was meeting. He tried not to dwell on such feelings of inadequacy as he stalked through the restaurant in the direction the hostess had pointed him, but he was fighting a losing battle. Every time someone looked his way he was sure they were judging him. Christ, what was he even doing here? He wished he knew.
After what felt like an age he arrived at a table occupied by a pretty blonde woman. She had that suave, professional look about her he associated with wealth. This didn't help matters. It was bad enough that she shared his wife's name, and the matching of their hair colour was a small torture on top of the fact, but he never did well with people who looked so well put together even without that. "Are you Miss Connor?" He asked gruffly.
