I think it should be Harry opening a door when he is living with Dursleys and he is seven. Tom opens a door when he is ten. They are in the same world and have some world-saving adventures together.
They establish they live in the same “real” world. When doors open back, they take them, promising to find each other.
Tom expects to see Harry three years later at Hogwarts. It doesn’t happen.
Canon happens. And then they meet and it’s so fucking unfair: Harry still The Hero - with Tom as The Villain.
