Martin shook his head at the sandy haired Brit in front of him. “I’m sorry,” he said, rolling his eyes. “But I don’t believe in magic.”

“Yeah right-” The girl muttered the words sharply, kicking the dead body of her target against the wall, before snapping her head around when she heard someone else. “... Who’s there?” Smooth, Clemintine.
Horde of hunters followed her by hazy forest, sinking into the darkness. Traces of her footsteps disappear into the marshy soil. Indistinct silhouette, silently like a ghost, scampered through the tangle of trees. With the increasing distance between them, voices carried by the wind, fell silent in the sounds of the night. Silverspring scratch in the pallid skin burned her slowly, penetrating deeper and deeper, as hellish fire. With each step human heritage slowed her down. Lungs harshly demanded oxygen, devoured by an endless run. When Constance reached the edge of the cliff an icy wind changed her breath in a steam. She looked at the vast blackness of the lake stretching out before her. Stabbing cold pierced her, when her limp body submerged in the icy depths of the lake. After long moments in the dark depths Constance crawled out on the rocky shore, on the other side of the lake. Struggling with gusty blasts of wind and pouring rain, her eyes focused on the shadow looming on the horizon.
