I tried posting this and more photos yesterday, but you know how tumblr hates to work properly.

Jackie, the cat that taught me to like cats, left this planet last night.

However, I'm sure he will still be haunting the porch intimidating dogs on the sidewalk and hoping to get pets from delivery drivers and customers picking up their orders.

We are very sad, but we knew this was coming with the progression of his kidney disease. Jackie has had a long and wonderful existence and has touched the lives of so many of our friends, housemates, and houseguests over the years. He's appeared in numerous zines and shared porch chats with many folks who have visited from all over the world.

He's been our #catboss since moving the shop back into the house during the pandemic and I'm so happy to have had these years working from home to spend more of it with him, even if he kept stealing my chair.

If you had the pleasure of meeting this handsome and distinguished creature, you were lucky.

This morning I want to tell you that Jackie Cat might just be the softest cat on the planet. Every time I pet other cats I am reminded of how soft Jackie's fur is and when you put your nose in his fur, which he doesn't really appreciate, he always smells a bit like wood smoke.

Santa brought him a bag of freeze dried minnows, just these freaky little whole fish. He was skeptical of them at first, but now he's really into them.

He also doesn't mind when we put this on his head.

1" button parts arrived today! We blew through 2,000 buttons and I packed 60+ orders, dropped everything off at the post office, and got beer and Taco Bell.

This postal witch is exhausted.

I came down my stairs and thought the colors out my front door looked nice.

Ian B asked if Jackie Cat wanted to come in...

He did. Jackie is a gentleman and always wipes his feet. Seriously, he doesn't scratch anything inside the house, just the doormat at the front door. He's a good cat.

So, the weird thing about this is that we were sitting on our porch and a random person drove up, parked their motorcycle, looked to the porch, said hi, my houseguest said hi back, and then they walked away down the corner. they houseguest said hi because they thought we knew the person, we did not.

Both Jackie (tuxeedo cat) and OJ (ginger cat) took turns jumping on top of it and posing. OJ even took a nap on the back. #TeamHalloween
