1" button parts arrived today! We blew through 2,000 buttons and I packed 60+ orders, dropped everything off at the post office, and got beer and Taco Bell.

Someone on Facebook didn't like my USPS image about delivering mail in fascism because they didn't trust the postal system with their vote. I explained how mail in voting works in a state where I have done so for over 20.... Then they blocked me? I think? Like, how is me point out facts block worthy?
For those of you that don't know, in Oregon you are automatically registered to vote if you are a US citizen when you go to the DMV to get a driver's license. You can also opt out at that time if you don't want to register.
Once you are registered you can register you ballot on the government website. When your ballot ships to you, you can get an email or a text to let you know when to expect it. You will also get a voter pamphlet. You can vote from bed with you cat while wearing pajamas, drinking tea, and reading about each item on the ballot in the voter pamphlet making you a more informed voter. Put you ballot in the provided sleeve, put the sleeve in the provided envelope, close the envelope, and sign the back.
We usually walk the 5 blocks to the library to drop off our ballots in their secured ballot box or you put a stamp on it and drop it in your mail or at a post office or other drop off site. Since I have registered my ballot, I'll get another email or text when my ballot has been accepted.
Now, this is why it is important to vote early. If you don't get that email. If you do get an email that your ballot was rejected because you did not sign the envelope, you did sign it and it does not match the signature on file, or something odd happens like you and your partner accidentally switched envelopes, they can send you a new one. I have known people that have experienced these.
Oregon has been doing this a long time. Other states are going to have to catch up, but the idea that there can be widespread voter fraud in such a streamlined system is absurd. Like, seriously, the effort you would have to go through to seems ridiculous and very likely to be caught.
Another thing. I was really worried that you would need a stamp to mail in your ballot. You needed on in Oregon until recently. But it turns out that you don't. The ballot will get delivered without a stamp and the USPS will bill the county for the postage due. So, if you mail it, you should use a stamp, but if you don't have one and it is a hassle to get one? Don't worry about it. Here's an article that explains it.

Today I received a package of packing material. Ian B and Jackie cat did not find me amusing as I I felt as i tossed a very large yet light weight package in the air over and over again. They also did not find me as clever as I find myself for finding surplus CD mailers for cheap because who even sends CDs anymore? They are actually the perfect size for my book about zines so I stock up when I find them.
I just pick up this tiny stamp. When not in use it hangs out on my postal altar. I'm using it to make little charms for orders to get swiftly and safely to their new home.
