Jack Larson, Playwright Better Known as Jimmy Olsen on ‘Superman’ TV Show, Dies at 87

Mr. Larson was hesitant to take the cub reporter role in 1951 for fear that he would be typecast. He eventually changed careers.

We were so sad to learn of Jack Larson's passing. He gave a lengthy, generous interview for our film, and he treated us like family. We planned to see him again in just over a week in L.A.  Jack was kind, articulate and insightful. He understood and could explain Hollywood with a rare depth. Last we spoke, he worried about leaving his dog Charlie behind for a trip to Brooklyn in January 2016. He had been asked to attend a performance of “The Astronaut’s Tale” at BAM Fischer. He reasoned he would go “because it is something I’m actually proud of.” He added, "I just hope they don’t ask me to be the narrator.” 

He passed without pain, without any particular sickness and, notably, with his “buddy” Charlie by his side.
