Jack and Ryu banter is fun to write because these two blockheads are always snarking at each other no matter if they're friends or lovers but Andy and Ryu banter is possibly even funnier to write because you don't really expect mister paragon Andy to be sassy. I mean you do if you know him (hello Bart's classroom) but not in the same way as Jack. I like to think Andy being more lax with revealing his sassy side is his way of opening up to/showing trust in Ryu. Particularly Ryu because of his unique position in relation to Andy as Saviour/successor.

Hm. I've drawn less Jack/Ryu art than I thought despite them being one of my main ships for years now. I had a vague idea of redrawing the scene where Jack is on top of Ryu and lecturing him about not being able to fight Zoda if he's dead but instead make him lean down just a liiitttle bit more for a kiss. I'd also like to draw Jack in his Ladies' Race dress sitting on Ryu's lap with Ryu wearing the crop top outfit I gave him...though if I draw anything more than the totally self-indulgent bulge I gave him last time I'll have to put it on my other blog lmao.

I'm also in the middle of finally revisiting Radiant (Light Visions series) but I don't know if I'll actually finish it soon given my difficulty with finishing fics over the past few months. Writing fargments out of order has helped a bit since I can just jump to whatever part I most want to write at the moment but we'll see. Mostly I want to write more of them being unexpectedly emotional again...Jack sings to Ryu on the beach in the sunset and dips him for a big damn kiss (many kisses) I swear these dumbasses can be romantic when the mood suits them!

Also enemies to lovers AU where Jack never stopped being the Shinigami and rides his bike wreaking havoc around town usually but still goes to F-Zero races sometimes in the Astro Robin for a shot at the prize money. Ryu occasionally is assigned to try to arrest him but he's super infuriating and somehow keeps getting away. As they keep crossing paths with each other (and trading insults, and taunts, and weirdly piercing questions) they find themselves developing a weird mutual understanding as "rivals" (insert Nemesis comic by Kate Beaton here). Ryu keeps trying to coax Jack into leaving the gang and Jack is stubborn but finds himself slowly getting worn down by Ryu's earnestness anyway. Ryu tries to cling to his judgment of Jack being a dick (and he is) but little things keep building up the impression that there's a softer heart buried deep in there somewhere (and Ryu was never one to give up).

Don't ask me how the lovers part happens probably some life threatening situation happens one saves the other they get mad at each other for risking their life and almost dying and then realize they actually care about each others' safety and make out. Fuck if I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Incredibly deep and heartfelt sincerity and concern that catches the other off-guard

The cheerier (and egotistical) one actually being the one that doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve when something's bugging him and the honest one seeing right through it

Both stubborn idiots being terrible at accepting help but trying to learn together and show each other they can be leaned on

Seriously the way they can flip between "two-year-old hair pulling" and "you idiot. I would die for you" is immaculate. I love it.
