“Jennifer Scott, stop fussing.” Thick, rough fingers were no match made to the girl’s golden locks as he tried to pin them up. This was the job of a mother–a woman with slender fingers who knew what she was doing; the woman who in Jennifer’s life was gone and would never return. He shifted , rolling shoulders that ached from hunching for so long and slaving over his daughter’s hair. It still looked like a mess; a mess that belonged to his beautiful child. With a smile spread across his lips, he came around her and pressed them to her forehead. “I know it is not perfect, but it looks alright–” he murmured against her flesh. “It’s the best papa could do.”
